Kevin, I put up the lyrics you just sent to the list on BasiaWeb.
Thanks a LOT! The collection seems complete... "Forgive and Forget"
and "Give Me That" are included in my _Time and Tide_ file (since they
come from the Japanese booklet). Actually, lyrics for the songs on
_WSAYO?_ would be nice, and let us all hope that there will be more
songs for us the transcribe lyrics in the near future.
BTW, Kevin, do you have a last name for the credits on my site? I just
put "Kevin (soundman)" there for now as a placeholder.

Don't have any Buffalo contacts, but B-town is a
pretty big city. Look in the yellow pages under
recording studios, or preferably video production,
or video post-production. Toronto is a huge production
center - should have no problems there either.

For London, England, locate the APRS - a professional

Either way, the yellow pages are our friends.
Try video production, video post-production,
or recording studios....
Satellite??? We could probably fly him over here

That is a very good question, and one for which there is no answer.
She appears on one track of the latest Peter White album, and she had
a promo single last December with "Angels Blush". Roach will claim
that 1998 is the year of the last Basia album. I'm a little more
optimistic, and hope we'll see something in mid-1997.

Well, first and foremost since there seems to be some geniune concern,
I AM 100% again.
As for the specifics of the accident, you really don't want to hear. And
to tell you the truth, I don't remember it happening so it would still
only be a second hand retelling of the incident. On top of that, I can't
bear to hear the entire retelling from my companion because he'll get to
the "dude, I came to and there was like blood everywhere..." part and I
make him stop.

Ben, Ben, Ben - you should know better than that!
1997 is always a possibility but, cmon - let's be realistic. I think the
record company has proven to be a completely useless factor in motivating
our two heros to work any faster. Sony seems to be content with these long
gaps between albums. There's always a part of me that wishes that Sony
would drop her and kind of teach her and Danny a lesson: show her that
there's more to the world than olive trees and weekend trips to Poland.
Seeing her end up on some no name, low budget Modern Jazz record label
(yknow - the kind that includes a catalog of other releases in with their
CDs?) would kinda please me in a real sadistic way. "YEAH! THAT'LL TEACH
YA TO SIT ON YER DUFF FOR FOUR FRIGGIN YEARS!"
Plus, its my opinion that the longer we wait for this album, the less
likely the chances will be that we'll ever see another one after that. I
mean, do the math, people - next summer marks the 10 year anniversary of
the domestic release of TIME AND TIDE. Hell, when next February rolls
around it will have been 7 years since LWNY landed in record stores.
Four studio albums in eleven or more years? Not exactly what I'd call
prolific; nor is it a trademark of someone who is willing to crank out
four more albums after that. Damn, Ben and I will probably be Phil's age
before this is all said and done ;)....

Okay...A lot has been said about us forgetting that this list is about
Basia. SOME of us have not forgotten who she is....
I am new to the list, so I'm probably going to ask questions that have
long ago been answered. I did however think long and hard about what I
wanted to know about Basia, so here goes.
As I have mentioned in the past, I am a huge Manhattan Transfer fan.
The reason for their member change in 1978 has always been left
something of a mystery. Was/is there anything mysterious about why
Danny and Basia decided to leave Matt Bianco, or was it simply a wise
business decision?
How old is Basia? There was some dicussion of her weight, but how tall
is she?
At the only concert of her's I've been to, she did Aretha Franklin's
RESPECT, as I've also mentioned before. When she introduced the song,
she said that she hoped they could do it justice. She seems humble,
without being falsley modest. I know that not very many of us on the
list actually know her, but am I on the mark here, as far as you know?
The music is so awesome! I just took a little day trip (about 100 miles
each way) and listened to BOB the entire trip. I think I like the live
album better than the studios because it's fun. She laughs at people
and really gets into the music. A little slice of personality along
with what is already amazing music.
Okay--let's start there!
This list is really cool, no matter what we talk about!

Does everyone really think that a 1998 release will be that LAST ONE????
What will she do with the rest of her life?! I am just getting into
this and you are predicting the end of something quite amazing. I can't
handle it! Well, I can but I don't like it! I agree about the record
company. Some labels are just TOO big...

Ok, listen up people - I think we've got the early rumblings of a dispute
starting...
I just looked at the lyrics posted on Ben's page, took a quick look at
"Give Me That" and noticed that the lyrics appear to be wrong... Ben, if
you took it from the CD linear notes that's still no guarantee: the
Japanese are famous for making up lyrics if they can't make out what's
being said - I have a live Yes CD that is full of butchered lyrics.
Here's the part I had a problem with:
As it appears on the homepage (from "Give Me That"):
Oh baby, let's stay together
'Cause we were made for each other's arms
Let be smile on ever
There is no one I would rather...
"Let smile be on ever?" What the HELL is that?
Ok, now call me crazy, but this is what I hear:
Oh baby, let's sleep together
'Cause we were made for each other's arms
Oh baby, its now or never
There is no one I would rather...
...and then your imagination can take it from there.
I'm afraid to look at the other lyrics because I'm afraid of finding more
lines like "let be smile on ever..."
You have got to be kidding me....

Didn't she say she wanted to produce new artists? thats what she will do.
she puts everything in to her music.. maybe it is too hard on her.. but TSI

Well, the official story has always seemed to be that Basia didn't like
the way she was being treated and her and Danny left in pursuit of other
horizons. Frankly, she's never said WHO it was who was doing the
mistreating - was it the record company (Atlantic) or could it be
something a little more juicy, ie Mark Reilly?
I've always wanted to know if either party has ever mentioned holding
animosity towards the other, ie Basia and Danny hating Mark and Mark or
vice versa, but there doesn't seem to be anything in the lexicon of
interviews I've uncovered in recent years.
To tell you the truth, that's always been the burning question for me.
HEY, THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA!
Ok, here's the premise... its a record signing, Basia is sitting there
signing CDs or whatever, and you're given the opportunity to ask her any
one question... What would it be?
> How old is Basia? There was some dicussion of her weight, but how tall
> is she?
According to the AMG, Basia was born on September 30th, 1959. Thus,
roughly two weeks from today will be her 38th birthday. As for a height,
you're on your own...

strange...

The tapes have arrived in the United States. Thanks from all of us, Alfred.
Here's the problem - the NTSC dub just won't sync on any of the three
machines I have access to. I'll begin searching for a conversion here, which
I should be able to find. If not, Ben, I may have to send it to you to take
to Crawford. I'll try to get a 3/4 rather than VHS dub for you. I'll keep
everyone posted.
