I think the thing is worth pursuing, especially as it could well become part of Ben's project (haven't heard much from that boy, have we?) I will never be convinced that the Broadway performances weren't filmed, BTW. Somebody with access to the NYC theater scene might check with the Neil Simon Theater folks. That was a good movie, with Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason, about Simon's early career. The Goodbye Girl was the title. (If we want the footage, we have to butter him up. Is he still living, anyway?) Phil (who defers to > JSL. > > ========================== > LET PRETZEL BOY PLAY!!!!! > ========================== > > ------------------------------ From: "Dennis J. I spoke to the manager of the TV department today. I had to shamelessly use my professional title to lend some credence to the fact that I'm no loony (am I?). She knew the laser disk of which I spoke. When I told her that I would like to obtain a copy, she said that *she* had no problem with that, but she was unsure what "corporate" would think about letting out a disk with their commercials on it. In short, she will get back to me on Wednesday. My gut feeling is that it was a polite brush-off, but I think that she may let me at least borrow it and make a good quality dub that I could send to Ben. She seemed to perk up a bit when I mentioned monetary compensation (read: bribe). The good news, however, is that the sales campaign that it is promoting ends this weekend. Hopefully we'll have a copy soon. Apparently, there may be lots of these disks around the country. They seem to make new ones on a regular basis - for Kenmore appliance sales. Like I said, I remember seeing Yearning on the TV's there this past winter. Maybe someone will stumble across more of these in the future. BTW, Phil, I said *demo*, not promo. Maybe that's why your clerk looked at you funny. Hopeful in Buffalo, Den - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis J. I've not been so talkative lately, expecially about the video. I had hoped to be able to report good progress, but my contacts in Austin's music business have not been able to get any _TSI_ videos for this. Therefore, I'm about to start to edit all this together. My video status page, off BasiaWeb, has info on what I've received. All of that material will be included. My Video Editing suite arrives Thursday, so it will all be nicely titled and put together. Jeff, if you are going to send something, I need it soon... I can always tack it to the end. I've decided not to be selective. I've got enough 3/4" tape for it all, so it will all be there. More to come later... - -- Benjamin L.
