Okay, my kick on the spam. I notified AOL about him, that "member" (heh!) name is no longer a signon (is it any wonder?). Covering his tracks like the guilty party he is! But I figure they might still know who he is, or where he is... Next project, get to the Better Business Bureau and make a complaint about that magazine subscription service. I think it's a waste of time, but who knows? Since most people think it's a waste of time to report these slugs and then don't, these jerks get away with poor business practices. I mean, I'm all for protecting free speech and all, but GAWD, let's practice some good manners here! Publisher's Clearinghouse envelopes I can toss in the trash without opening. Who said I want magazines??? Venting over... Soapbox put away... ;-) Re: Basia (oh good!) on PW's album. Still haven't heard (oh drat!), waiting impatiently for *something* to break... Sony exec's and the lawyers are fools if they don't say "DO IT!!!" (with dollar signs in their eyes!)... Hope something happens soon, this kid's about to burst! (can't you see me bouncing up and down in my chair???) (heh!) Concerning Basia and Dr. Who, I took a peek in my tour programs from SI and LWNY, and tho I thought there might have been a mention, I didn't see one. Tho I did spot a couple of things I thought I'd bring up for general discussion: Basia's "guilty musical pleasure" during LWNY tour was "heavy metal music". Hmmm... Basia's "achievement she is most proud of" during SI was "singing backing vocals on David Cassidy's record. Again... Hmmmmm... I didn't get a program from T&T, does anyone have one? What is it like? Oh, and on to Matt Bianco. Danny White, Mark Reilly, and Kito (bassist) were all from the group Blue Rondo A La Turk. Any of that Blue Rondo stuff still floating around? I'd be curious to hear what it sounds like. (this was brought to mind again by my idle scanning of the SI tour program) PWwebsite is nearing completion. Maybe with testing and all, we could be up by next week. Site address will be http://peterwhite.com (is that cool?) (heh!) PWwebsite will include a couple of BASIA (and Danny!) photos, some of which I took, and some from different photographers. BTW, Ben Combee, I haven't forgotten that I promised to send you some photos for your Basia website! Have a couple of nice ones (that wouldn't go on the PW website because they are Basia or Danny without Peter), will send when I get a chance! Well, that's all the news that's fit to holler. Maybe if I hear from PW I can get some *real* news... Diane - you do realize that if the track doesn't appear on the album, we will hunt you down and kill you. :D > Tho I did spot a couple of things I thought I'd bring up for general > discussion: > Basia's "guilty musical pleasure" during LWNY tour was "heavy metal > music". Hmmm... Heavy metal music? Are we talking, like, Metallica (ala "Kill 'Em All," "Metal Up Your Ass," "Creeping Death," etc.) or perhaps Slayer (ala "Reign In Blood," "South of Heaven," etc.). Could we be seeing more tribute albums? Yeah, sure - I'd love to see Basia do, say, "Angel of Death" on a Slayer tribute album. Sure - the Polish diva whipping out "...seven million more to DIE!!!!!" :D Heavy Metal my ass - she's probably one of those people who considered "Poison" or "Bon Jovi" to be Heavy Metal. You haven't heard Heavy Metal until you've heard Slayer, 'kay? > Basia's "achievement she is most proud of" during SI was "singing > backing vocals on David Cassidy's record. Again... Hmmmmm... That's, apparently, only one song - "Romance" on some David Cassidy solo CD released only in Europe. Someone on this list has it but I won't name names because I wouldn't want them to be innundated with requests because of my big mouth. Its a good song; a bit overproduced, but a nice song nonetheless. > I didn't get a program from T&T, does anyone have one? What is it like? I just got a press-bio type thing from the promo stuff for T&T (back when CBS actually gave a damn about promoting her)...its very nice. Its a foldover type thing with a full bio and pictures from the photo session that led to the Japanese T&T cover. Its sorta like a tour program but there's not much to it, plus the info on it is pretty standard for a Basia bio (Born in Poland, performed with Alibabki and Perfect, blah blah blah). There's also an invite to her "American Concert Debut" which according to the card was June 16th, 1988 at The Roxy Theatre. > Oh, and on to Matt Bianco. (this was > brought to mind again by my idle scanning of the SI tour program) I guess you were computer-less when I posted this at Christmas, Diane: I found a bunch of Blue Rondo a La Turk 7" singles at a local vinyl shop. Mark Reilly and Kito Poncioni appear on everything, but Danny White doesn't get credit for anything (which makes me think that his involvement in Blue Rondo has been a bit overblown). The music is pretty good - I hated the stuff at first but its definitely grown on me. They basically sounded like a much more eclectic Matt Bianco. Plus, the singles themselves are really nice artwise - the one single "The Heavens Are Crying" has a nice painting on it and was obviously designed to resemble the cover to Dave Brubeck's "Time Out" LP (I think that's what it was called - it was the one with the "Blue Rondo a La Turk" track for you jazz freaks out there). The bad thing about Blue Rondo, in my opinion, was that their vocalist sucked (it wasn't Mark Reilly) - the instrumental stuff is really cool, but the lyrical songs are kinda yuckie. And the vocal harmony arrangements are just simply atrocious. I call 'em like I see 'em.
