It has been recorded by lots of folks, including the woman Basia sang about on "Time and Tide", Astrud Gilberto. Could it be a modern verson of this old song? I'd love to hear it. BUT, if this turns out to be some sort of new release with, like, 5 or 6 new songs on it, I will be BEYOND peeved. The American fans have no choice but to live in the dark as it is, but to release "new songs" in Japan ONLY is inexcuseable. Granted, CD BANZAI are a bunch of rip-off artists, but Japanese CD singles are usually only priced in the neighborhood of $24 in their catalog. The $32 price tag is usually saved for full-fledged albums and sizeable EPs. Need I say more? Even if this mysterious CD is, eventually, released here in the States (whatever it might be) the fact that we had to WAIT to get this in domestic form is just plain bad. For Sony/Basia/Dee Anthony to turn their backs on the US fans like this is simply appalling. I mean, the "Best Remixes" was bad enough, and we even got our own convoluted version of it (ala Brave New Hope), but...grr...all I can say is, this better not be what I think it is. Keep the faith. I hope to get the order from them containing the lithos and CDs early next week (NO checks will be cashed until I receive the order). Thanks. Hmm...does it have any bonus tracks on it? :D Actually, which album is it? (I assume its not TSI seeing as how, as far as I know, it never went gold)...and where do you GET this stuff, Ken? I thought only the artists themselves get those gold record awards (and they're not REALLY gold, right? I think they stopped using real gold a few years back). But $400...little too rich for my blood at the moment. I miss having a job and a totally disposable income... school sucks. :) > I have a call in to find out about the Water Of March CD. > I hope we are not getting screwed here! Instinct tells me that we, in some way, are...CD Banzai will have my order form in hand by the end of the week so, who knows what it'll be. My money says it'll be an EP somewhere along the lines of: 1. Half a Minute (rerecorded) 2. Angels Blush (seeing as how the Japanese release date was sometime in December before Christmas) 3. Water of March (whatever that is) ...and maybe 2 or 3 other tracks - maybe some live leftovers? It definitely has the possibility of being a nice little gem which infuriates me even more that the US fans are apparently being left out (leaving us to the mercy of CD import ripoff artists like CD Banzai). I hope I'm wrong, I really do. Time for class...toodles! This is... ============================================================================= Like ohmigod! Roach has a homepage! Well, I just got the tape today. Interesting. In a sort of early Depeche Mode kinda way I like it, but it was really hard for me to see Basia singing it. Quite a departure from her recent work, if I may say so. It probably won't be dubbed to a mix tape of mine, though. Now as to "Waters"... this seems quite interesting. I love the Astrud Gilberto original, and would love to hear Miss T cover it. If it truly isn't geting a US release, I'll be quite angry. I'm really considering ordering it too, although $32 is a lot. Maybe I'll wait for Best Buy to get it (they got both Best Remixes imports!) Now, why didn't anyone comment on my Basia and Butthead mail? :) - -- Benjamin L. It definitely wasn't Basia singing. Who released this cover version? Actually, Basia covered this song, originally written by Stevie Wonder and performed by Aretha Franklin, I think. There was also a cover version by Miki Howard (???) around the time _LWNY_ came out. (I remember seeing the video on the old VH1, but I can't find it on Noteworthy.) - -- Benjamin L.
