For those of you joining us late: If you send me a blank tape, I will put not only a copy of the pre-Matt Bianco Basia track "Departures" but will ALSO include a copy of "The Sweetest Illusion" for free! All you need to do is put a tape in a padded brown envelope and mail it to: JS Lohr c/o Agitprop P.O. Box 438 Bowie, MD 20718-0438 Its all free! All you need is a tape, an envelope, and something to write with. The interview itself is roughly about 35 minutes long and also includes 18 generic radio id's ("Hi, this is Basia wishing you happy holidays," "Hi, this is Basia, and we'll have more in just a minute," etc.). Its a neat thing to have, so if you're interested, mail me a tape TODAY! BTW, if you've sent me a tape or a check (for the "Departures" 7") in the past few days, it may be another day or so before I can get to the post office to check my mailbox...there's about 24" of snow on the ground outside. Granted, if you live in the mountains or in Minnesota this may not seem like alot, but when this much of it falls in the Baltimore area, people go apes**t. I could be stuck here for days... Toodles! Stay warm... ------------------------------ From: "J.S. Lohr" Date: Mon, 8 Jan 1996 02:15:25 -0500 (EST) Subject: Re: The list shortens... I hope you're talking about the MB singles...:) Anyway, its not a question of how much I want, its a matter of how much the shop is charging for them. I've been giving a break on the $10 "Departures" single because I paid so little for my copy before the ass who runs the joint jacked up the price after apparently realizing just what he had - those singles have probably been sitting there since 1983, so I can imagine the dude's surprise when they started selling like mad. John - $10 will cover the cost of the two singles. Postage will be almost nil so there's almost no point in charging you for it. > And any heterosexual male is nuts who does not want > a copy of The Sweetest Interview with Bashia breathing in between the radio > cuts. I listened to the tape with headphones - what a lift. LOL :) - My personal fave is "Hi, this is Basia, and you're listening to smooth jazz in the morning." I'll sit there with the headphones on and be like "Duhhh, you're my hero." > I have to see the hair styles. Don't get me wrong - I totally respect that; I myself have had to spend upwards of $200 for various Tori Amos bootlegs for the betty in my life (no, her name's not betty...). I'm just wondering if she's managed to turn you into a convert... Toodles. This is your friendly neighborhood raveboy, signing off... Check out the new .sig! They had 4 or 5 copies. They also had a copy of the Matt Bianco CD that Basia is on. Both were imports from the UK. If anyone wants a copy of either, I can probably make it back to get them. I know this has been asked before, but the answer escapes me for the moment: Does the version of "More Than I Can Bear" on the Matt Bianco Best Of CD still have Basia's vocals? I seem to remember the answer being "no," I just wanted to make sure before I totally dismissed buying this CD...though I am curious to hear what the "Matt's Mood 1990" track (isn't that what its called?) sounds like. I know that EVERY Matt Bianco Greatest Hits CD has "More Than I Can Bear" on it. I have seen three different G-hits packages but NONE of them have the complete Basia vocals. They all are chopped from the song. We have never uncovered why this is but we all know that it is true. I am thankful for my vinyl! See ya....
