Only two degrees of separation now... Anyhow I do find being deceived insulting. I wouldn't accept it in any other sphere of my life without taking umbrage. If somebody repeatedly tells you they're going to do something and then don't do it, you lose respect for them, don't you? Weird not to in fact. The potential contents of the photo book were discussed in here and elsewhere in August 2013 by one of Ferry's flunkies. It wouldn't appear to have been a secret. In fact it seemed that the target audience for this product were deliberately having their appetites whetted. Naturally it hasn't appeared. The same is true of several other products whose contents were leaked by sources who claims to have The Commander's sanction, but are yet to see the light of day (if only The Jazz Age had been one of them...) Despite your sweeping statement about the industry, I'd challenge you to show me another artist that has had quite as many premature or downright bogus announcements made on his behalf as BF seems to.B This is nothing new. I remember a while back a disenchanted fan writing similar sentiments to mine regarding the quality of Ferry's archive releases and his apparent estrangement from his fan base. Very insightful. That would be weird. If I recall rightly, the photo book was announced by publisher, which is standard practice in the industry. Stuff gets announced in nearly all mediums of the ent industry especially music and film, no reason to single out Ferry and co. Sometimes things don't make it to the shelves, for all sorts of reasons. In the words of Sinatra and Rantzen, "That's life." What I would like however, is for 'Team BF' to stop announcing (or leaking) details of products that either don't come to market, are not as announced, or appear literally years late. It's insulting to fans.B Just tell us when something is ready. That's not unreasonable is it?B Chris ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 24 Jul 2015 05:02:03 -0400 From: kwil Subject: Re: [AVALON] Roxy Music Box Set Man demands product. Product release is not always within the artists control. Man finds other things to do to while away the hours until product gets released. Isn't it a consequence of the "social media" revolution? I mean heaven forbid we start getting pictures of him twerking, sticking his tongue out, topless, his fat a**e been shown everywhere? Though I suppose for some there will be a market for that. For me, whenever I see an appetite whetting announcement I think I subconsciously say to myself: " Don't hold your breath" , "Ohh here comes another disappointment" etc. Having said that, BF does surprise me still. I thought some of the tracks on Avonmore were great (I've never been overwhelmed by a complete BF album anyway), even though the ancient cover photo didn't bode well; by all accounts the most recent tour was a triumph (though the last minute cancellation was a little too much close to form for my taste and at the time I did fear that perhaps it was something more serious). As regards the photobook, he did have the American photographer (Michael Becker?) along which won't have been cheap and who took some great shots. On a slightly different point - some said how BF's voice had improved. I wondered if it was the introduction of the in-ear monitors? I can't ever remember him using them before. I could be wrong on that though?
