Phil Manzanera from Roxy Music has revealed that the band could possibly reform. After his comments made to Rolling Stone last year that Roxy Music were bdoneb, Manzanera appears to have reconsidered a reunion. bI have said over the last year I thought our job was done with Roxy Music,b he told The Independent. bThere are no plans to do anything at all [but] the great thing about being in a band like Roxy was no-one told us what to do. If I called up Bryan [Ferry] tomorrow and said, bIbve got this great tune, how about we play a thing, whateverbs gone down?b and if he said bOh, I love thatb b& When people say itbs all over well no, itbs only over when youbre 13 foot down when youbre dead and buried and then you definitely canbt come backb& there are no rules.b Manzanera also said that the group had made some new material together eight years ago but they decided not to release it as it wasnbt up to the standards of their final ground-breaking album Avalon, released in 1982. bWe tried to do an album about eight years ago and the stuff is still here [in the recording studio]. Itbs not earth-shattering, so thank God we didnbt release it. Its sub-standard. "You know we have a great back catalogue, which finished with Avalon. So whatbs the point of putting something for the sake of it? Records donbt sell now anyway b therebd be no money in it, so webd be doing it for the love and for the music. It could happen but Ibm not holding my breath.b How i love to hear those tunes from 8 years ago . Anyone else ? All the best, jim. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Jul 2015 18:55:38 +0000 (UTC) From: Victor Hastings Subject: Re: Fwd: [AVALON] Avalong slow demise, How ironic that AOL has gone from the future of the internet to a spam outlet in 15 years. At least we Avalonians still have our pride. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Jul 2015 18:38:50 +0100 From: Mark Longhorn Subject: Re: [AVALON] roxy again ... Well having heard some of the old outakes from flesh and blood and Avalon times, I'm not sure we're missing much and if rather hear a finished product. Right now I'll settle for the 5.1 remasters for albums 1-5!!! The truth is that our collective thanks belong to the folks at smoe.org who have graciously hosted a bunch of music-related sites for nearly 20 (?) years now. And just to let you know, there's nothing that be done on the list end to get around whatever SPAM lists your ISP has made. if your ISP blocks AOL addresses, you won't see those posts in the talk list, although they may turn up in the digest list--I haven't check. Colleen p.s. here's a link to the list archives if you want to check to see if you are missing any posts: http://www.smoe.org/lists/avalon/ ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Jul 2015 21:59:50 +0000 (UTC) From: Chris Turner Subject: Re: Fwd: [AVALON] Avalong slow demise, That isn't quite true. No ISPs are blocking all AOL mail (or there would be no point in having an AOL email account) I still get mail which comes directly from AOL servers without a problem.B Last September, in an attempt to reduce spam, AOL (this is also true of Yahoo.com) started enforcing an email policy called DMARC Validation. AOL messages now carry a key which asks the recipient to reject the mail if it doesn't come from legitimate AOL servers.B Because smoe makes changes to the email header to make it look like all mail comes from avalon@smoe.org, it breaks the DMARC regulations and all DMARC-compliant recipients (such as GMail, Hotmail or Yahoo itself) reject AOL mail as suspicious. Some of you, because your ISP doesn't use the DMARC system, will still receive mail as expected, and you will wonder what the fuss is about.B This isn't a reflection on smoe or anyone here. Pretty much every mailing list in the world is affected because that's how they work. While AOL intended this to protect their customers from unsolicited email, it has had the unintended result of damaging legitimate and responsible remailers like smoe. If you are an AOL or Yahoo.com user and you want your honeyed words to be received by the list, consider using a different email account http://postmaster-blog.aol.com/2014/04/22/aol-mail-updates-dmarc-policy-to-re ject/ https://www.emailonacid.com/blog/article/industry-news/could_yahoo_and_aols_d marc_policies_destroy_your_deliverability http://www.pcworld.com/article/2141120/yahoo-email-antispoofing-policy-breaks - -mailing-lists.html http://yahoomail.tumblr.com/post/82426900353/yahoo-dmarc-policy-change-what-s hould-senders Chris From: Colleen Matan Tucker There isn't anything that can be done on this end to fix this--a lot of ISPs have blocked all email from the AOL.com domain. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V15 #966 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
