I think there might be the hope that we'll all be thinking, as someone put on Facebook yesterday, "Oooh, hasn't he aged well"! *shakes head* Having said that, a similar thing was done for Frantic. I remember the Jonathan Ross Radio Show interview where JR said, "Look at the cover, you haven't aged at all." And BF didn't add any info about when the photos were taken (Boys and Girls era I think - about 20 years before?). I guess that's his prerogative, but it might also be a clue to his psyche / mindset and a lack of "new material", though I also suspect he's leaving some of the non-music stuff for his boys / management to deal with. Who knows, maybe it's just a question of taste, though I thought the Dylanesque cover didn't quite cut it either. It's a bit ironic, when you just look back at some of the iconic covers, everyone a hit and contemporary until Mamouna really and now we're recycling 40 year-old pics. If I look at Leonard Cohen's latest album pics, the old git (sic) still looks cool to my eyes. And indeed, even now, Ferry still looks cool, so the old pic choice is a bit bizarre. BTW did you know Pat Leonard (Bete Noire) features predominantly on the latest LC album? (I haven't heard it, no idea if it's any good.) I think the best album cover, considering what is now on offer, would be the ripped-up passport story one.
