Hell released the track (as 'U Can Dance') on his album 'Teufelswerk', and on a series of remixes released on various vinyl, CD and download formats. BF released the track (as 'You Can Dance') on the album and another long series of remixes which have been made available from The Vinyl Factory, as downloadable digital tracks and on a number of widely-available 'official' CD Promos. Don't think that trade in CD promos is illegal by the way... (http://bit.ly/1DxISFH) Including the basic tracks, bonus tracks, edits, remixes and instrumentals, the whole project spawned an amazing SIXTY-FIVE different versions of the 10 basic tracks, plus the two bonus numbers - 'One Night' and 'Whatever Gets You Through The Night'. 'Move Closer' was announced as a bonus track but withdrawn and is therefore excluded. The other tracks were released by under the names 'Bryan Ferry', 'Groove Armada featuring Bryan Ferry' and one track - 'Shameless Dub' - on a remix compilation by 'Tim 'Love' Lee'. In addition there was an officially sanctioned remix of 'Shameless' which won a contest at Beatport. There are a whole raft of home-grown remixes on various sites such as Soundcloud which I excluded on the grounds that they lacked official approval. It must be said, some of the remixes bear only a passing acquaintance with the original! There are a couple of tracks which are probably the same, but which appeared under different names. For fairness, I excluded tracks which had the same name but minor variations in the track length. Even by the harshest criteria, there are at least sixty-two different versions of Olympia's songs. There may be more, as although I collated this some months ago, only yesterday I discovered Groove Armada's 'Shameless Alternative Mix' which was a Japan-only album release, and which bumped the score up by one. All errors and omissions excepted. Remember, my game; my rules. ;0) For your amusement, I will include the track listing in a separate email. And no, I don't own them all! So, we saw Bryan in conversation with Michael Bracewell at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago a couple of nights back. Great to see Kelly and Pete again (I have let too much time pass). The show was about 90 minutes of MB asking BF about his life and times, in rough chronological order, with powerpoint and the occasional video. No great revelations, but it was pretty cool to hear the great man in an extended conversation. And yet.... Michael Bracewell is a very charming and knowledgeable interviewer. I expect that 90 minutes of him presenting would be far more informative and revelatory. Nonetheless, it was great to bask in the Great Man's presence! - --Andrew in Chicagoo;?
