Gone are my days of doing the entire UK tour (as I did in the 70's), but like Tracy, I too over reacted when the tour was announced and kind of regretted purchasing so many tickets in a frenzy. The Jazz Age was (and still is) the only Ferry connected oeuvre I haven't purchased and I still don't like the material, bar the odd tune. But I have to say, it works incredibly well in a live forum - isn't that how jazz is supposed to work? I'd always thought I'd just take to my seat later in the set once the BFO had done their bit, but the whole set was structured so that I couldn't help but enjoy the entire kit and caboodle. It was fascinating seeing how effortlessly Richard White coaxed such beauty out of his old clarinet. The transition from jazz to rock in Reason or Rhyme was genius and then we were hell bent into Same Old Blues. Similarly, the start of Part Two saw the backing lasses doing a laudable flapper dance that had some of the Saturday night Sage audience up on their feet attempting a Geordie blackbottom. They were later written up in The Newcastle Chronicle as "mature, yet frisky" which Ferry later said he thought was a bit cheeky. This could have quite easily have been billed as The Bride Stripped Bare Tour. It certainly had the old energy of the early Ferry tours - which is pretty good going for a 68 year old. And the Stax/blues romp mid way through the second half to end just stayed the right side of the party line without teetering into Quo land. I've rarely seen a tour when every night was as good as the last and Ferry was on top form throughout. Even at York (his third night on the trot) he gave it his all, even though as he told me later the voice was just about holding out. Going back to theatre-sized venues had a real positive effect and I'm looking forward to my final two hurrahs. Just one note of doom (well, what do you expect from me?), and nothing to do with Ferry - gigsandtours could not arranged the proverbial lock-in in a drinking establishment. Tickets for Scottish dates turning up after leaving to do the rest of the tour and selling a year in advance had us playing ticket jenga to the last minute as people's work and life commitments got in the way of their being clairvoyant. Great to see my old chums on the way round and a special guest appearance from Dutchies Han and Ron, who always says next time is the best time. In the case of this tour, I think he might be right. Is there any chance " An Evening with Bryan Ferry" will be brought to the US? R [TABLE NOT SHOWN] Mike - I agree completely. I was at the Royal Albert Hall show on 4th. I must admit that (almost unbelievably after so many years!) this time I was not particularly excited beforehand. How wrong I was....it really was one of the best Ferry gigs I've ever attended - a great selection from the last 40 years (is it really that long?). I wish now I'd done what I've always done before and bought tickets for other venues! Good to hear that the Bristol show was just as good. Bryan had the crowd on their feet for virtually the entire second half of the show - don't think he could believe the exceptional audience reaction - also the highlight for me - the first half finishing with an absolutely brilliant rendition of Song for Europe with Cherisse Ofosu-Osei virtually smashing through the Drum skins - fantastic display! Can't believe the list is so quiet about the current tour - one of the best shows ever witnessed IMHO.
