I mistakenly had perceived this tour at the the BF Orchestra so hadn't taken much notice when dates were announced. As has been said - it was simply a wonderful show - absolutely fascinating and thrilling. I am absolutely gutted that I haven't even got a ticket for my home venue - never mind my own stupid fault - however I will very shortly be putting out a plea for any spare ticket going otherwise I will be at the mercy of the touts - bless 'em. :-) Regards Chris ________________________________ From: Jane Collard To: Michael Hallett ; "avalon@smoe.org" Sent: Sunday, November 17, 2013 10:48 PM Subject: Re: [AVALON] Bristol Colston Hall Saturday 16/11/13 Mike - I agree completely. I was at the Royal Albert Hall show on 4th. I must admit that (almost unbelievably after so many years!) this time I was not particularly excited beforehand. How wrong I was....it really was one of the best Ferry gigs I've ever attended - a great selection from the last 40 years (is it really that long?). I wish now I'd done what I've always done before and bought tickets for other venues! Good to hear that the Bristol show was just as good. Bryan had the crowd on their feet for virtually the entire second half of the show - don't think he could believe the exceptional audience reaction - also the highlight for me - the first half finishing with an absolutely brilliant rendition of Song for Europe with Cherisse Ofosu-Osei virtually smashing through the Drum skins - fantastic display! Can't believe the list is so quiet about the current tour - one of the best shows ever witnessed IMHO. For me, two outstanding shows this week in Scotland! Glasgow was great but Edinburgh just tipped the balance and seemed to have something extra. The Usher Hall is a more traditional theatre compared to the modern Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. The stewards were a bit more strict in Glasgow (noting new there!) and were coming down on anyone taking pictures, even in the second half of the show when we all went down the front they were still asking folks to put the camera away! I thought this practice was dying out with the advent of camera phones and it is the first venue I have been to in a while who were heavy on the camera ban. Edinburgh was more relaxed and the crowd seemed to make more noise which in turn seemed to spur Bryan on. Bryan, the band, the orchestra and the girls were simply brilliant! They looked like they were having a ball and the crowd were fantastic. The set worked really well and the time seemed to fly past all too quickly. Same set both nights except for The Only Face which was dropped in Edinburgh. By the time he got to York the following night The Way You Look Tonight was also dropped which meant he came on stage to Reason or Rhyme. That was the first time this tour he had played 3 nights in a row so I guess he maybe needed to rest his voice. I loved the shows and had a great time!! I hope the rest of the tour will be the same for everyone.
