It's been up for a few days. I think it's very good. Rather than using an in-house designer or bespoke web design company they're using a branded content management approach. An external company called http://www.musicglue.com/ provide the back end and the facilities and take a proportion of earnings from the site's commercial activities rather than a fee. The facilities are common to all of their sites but the look and feel is bespoke for each. They have a stable of artists, but no one else of The Commander's stature. Technically, it's pretty good. It uses responsive design (that means that what you see is tailored to the medium you are using, for example desktop, tablet or smartphone all look appropriate for the device) and more importantly it delivers the information you need such as forthcoming gigs or latest news better. It's not HTML5 but that's not a big problem. The sounds, videos and social media stuff are nicely integrated. My one minor criticism is the use of those big photos as backgrounds. Better to have a flat background which is less distracting. It's not like you can see the photos properly anyway, and they don't appear in the smaller device factors.. BF's sites have always been muddled before or concerned with style over substance (yeah, I get the irony). This is a big step forwards in my view. BF has finally got to grips with t'interweb.
