So perhaps there was a frosty atmosphere because of that? (:-) The funny thing is Harley just sounded like a pompous w***er himself as he said it. Well actually not only when he was talking about BF. (:-) But then I am a bit biased. Currently listening to Country Life. The author has interviewed 25 songwriters, mainly of the 70s and 80s variety, to compare approaches and ethos. It looks like a worthy idea even if the omission of B Nick Lowe looks like an oversight, and the inclusion of Joe Strummer and Robin Gibb implies supernatural powers. http://www.isleofnoises.co.uk/ The Commander has always seemed very guarded about talking about his approach to writing, and the quote attributed to him isn't wholly encouraging:B "I've always been very wary about analysing songwriting. Itbs always been a mystery to me where ideas come from.'B Bryan Ferry Hopefully Rachel will have got something out of BF, but the wider book should offer something of interest regardless.B Chris ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V15 #637 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
