I don't like all of it either, but I like some of it. Clearly money is being generated by the remixes (otherwise, why bother?) and I don't begrudge Ferry making money in the same way that I'm pretty sure he's not bothered about how I make an honest crust. Maybe Bryan Ferry is sitting down and writing songs as we type! Maybe he has an album at the ready (he has)! Maybe you'll like it, remixes and all! Don't give up hope. A Dylan album, an indulgent jazz project and Olympia, an album so insipid it made Mamouna seem like Pet Sounds, is a poor return for well over a decade of effort. I do like remixes. Just not as a substitute for actual substantive work. Incidentally, just as there's no obligation to buy everything he releases, there's no compulsion to like everything either. If Bryan Ferry wants to describe himself as a composer on his passport, he should sit down and write some songs, or use his hard-earned and justified reputation to attract the best songwriters to work with him. I've no doubt he has a great album left in him but he can't make it without help these days.. I wish Bryan Ferry would stop releasing stuff that we have no obligation to buy. Seriously though, I believe a new album is on the horizon - no doubt with assorted remixes. Then you'll have something to really moan about.
