It was at the National Concert Hall. Relatively large venue. It ran from 8.30pm to about 10.15pm without an interval. First part was the instrumental jazz material with Colin Good. It's the most I've ever heard Colin speak - he should do more :) Before the gig I wasn't sure how this would play live, but it went very well and I really enjoyed it, especially with the info on the music from Colin and the musicians were much fun. The backing singers/dancers did a lovely 20s dance when Bryan went of stage for a couple of minutes. It was very entertaining. I thought the set list had an excellent mixture of songs on it - all of different styles and periods. I enjoyed hearing Back to Black live for the first time. Oh Yeah got a cheer when it started. Personally I loved I Thought and Casanova. The atmosphere was great. Quite strange with audience also sat up high behind the stage, but everyone was having lots of fun and Bryan acknowledged them a number of times to their absolute delight :) It was one of those venues rather like the Sage where people are inclined to sit. The audience only stood up for the last three songs. I wasn't impressed by the acoustics in there particularly. Not a patch off The Sage and Newcastle City Hall. I'll be interested to hear the difference when I see Bryan at the Sage in October. This wasn't a venue I was crazy about. On the first couple of songs I think the mic might have been set up to recreate a kind of 20s sound. It didn't sound quite right though - not sure it was set up right - unless it was just the venue that was the problem. There were 40 people with VIP tickets. I wasn't one but managed to speak to Bryan briefly at the stage door afterwards and get the set list signed and a quick pic. He was in very good spirits. I didn't see anyone I knew there, so was on my own and had no replies on Avalon when I asked if anyone was going so I don't know if anyone else was actually there from the list.
