I've always wondered if he had an instrumental album in him, although jazz isn't what I had in mind. What I would LOVE -- although it will never happen -- is for Ferry to write an album's worth of new material and take it on the road, to be recorded live for a post-tour release. The last producer whose contributions I have really admired is Chris Thomas, who wasn't satisfied with creating a "wall" of sound -- he created an onrushing locomotive engine of sound that knocked you off your feet just by coming at you head-on. And, to me, it sounded more "live" than anything Rhett Davies had a finger in. Most everything Ferry released after ending his collaboration with Thomas has been syrupy, overproduced and studio-bound.
