Agreed it's what all Roxy / Ferry fans would like but are there enough of those to make it worthwhile? However having said that, they could reduce production costs by making any "video" download only on iTunes for example. So, who knows? I get the impression we might be pleasantly surprised with the deluxe versions of the re-releases. I really hope that's the case and that they're not just rehashes of what has already been available. Unfortunately, it won't be the first time Roxy/ Ferry fans have been dismayed. Ending on positive note, I still remember the Total Recall video and the awe that I had as I watched it. He had been someone BF met via the local cycling club and had offered him the gig as they had a string of bookings and no singer. It's worth pointing out that the arrangement only lasted about three or four months one summer. Anyway Tim told me his father, who went on to work with Elton John's drummer Nigel Olssen, had recordings of the band taped in obscure places like Bedlington Town Hall. He also told me about the band rehearsing in a hair salon in Shiney Row and about The City Jug Blues Band. The latter I had doubted a little given that BF had spoken often about both The Banshees and The Gas Board, but never mentioned them, but it turned out to be right enough. I missed it the last time it was posted. I suppose that finding audio or video recordings of Ferry playing with any of his pre-Roxy bands would be the Avalonian equivalent of discovering King Tut's tomb. And for the life of me I can't figure out why Ferry's 1974 solo shows at the Royal Albert haven't seen the light of day. But that's another thread.... ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2012 15:20:14 +0100 (BST) From: Chris Turner Subject: Re: [AVALON] Interesting article on web There was a similar discussion on my forum a couple of years back. http://www.roxyrama.org/forum/topics/thank-god-for-bruce-lowes Bruce Lowes subsequently contacted me and joined the forum. I still suspect that there is an old undiscovered reel to reel tape of Ferry fronting Jug Band/Gas Board/Banshees -- I would LOVE to hear how he sounded back in the day. Even if Ferry didn't know he was being recorded. As for the 1974 Ferry solo shows -- I recall that they were at least tape recorded if not filmed. Ferry is unsigned right now, isn't isn't he? How hard would it be to touch up the audio and release it privately or via direct download from bryanferry.com? I would die happy if I could hear that show. - ----- Original Message ----- > From: Chris Turner > To: "avalon@smoe.org" > Cc: > Sent: Saturday, June 2, 2012 9:20 AM > Subject: Re: [AVALON] Interesting article on web > >T here was a similar discussion on my forum a couple of years back. > http://www.roxyrama.org/forum/topics/thank-god-for-bruce-lowes > > > Bruce Lowes > subsequently contacted me and joined the forum.
