"No Thyself" - A friend made a copy for me and I was listening to it last week. It's new, is it?? I didn't even know that, and I guess that's a tribute to the album's quality. Amazing stuff, indeed!!! An interesting recommendation, I will check that album out. Somebody else from that era who is consistently putting out high quality material and still experimenting after all these years is the Ultravox founder and electronic pioneer John Foxx, who has always been very open about how much an influence Roxy were on him, by the way. The first three Ultravox albums are, for me, though not only for me, the link between Roxy, the German electronic bands and what came to be termed New Wave. And there are many gems in Foxx's solo career. I saw John Foxx & The Maths at XOYO, London last week, and it was utterly brilliant. Awe-inspiring violin / synth melodies. Somebody posted some evidence on YT, for example: http://www.youtube.com/tokyohunter#p/u/14/qRdT208wCM4 http://www.youtube.com/tokyohunter#p/u/11/ZHSjtLHdqh0 If you have the chance to see JF & The Maths, I humbly suggest: go! Agree. Although the best track (personal taste only) has its roots back in the day. But a lot of the new material has flavours of their classics. And Barry Adamson and John McGeogh weren't even part of it. See you at SBE on Thursday then Lee? The link there (http://1tv.com.ua/uk/video/program/burinnia/2011/10/17/3644) brings me: > 404 ???????? ?? ????????. > > ???????, ????????, ??? ?? ???????, ???? ??????????, ??? ???? > ????????? ??????????. > > ????????? ??????? ?? ??????? ???????? ????? ? ?????? ??? ????????? ?? > ????????? ??? ????????. Excuse my Russian. But I think this means that the video is no longer available. If anyone can point me to another place, that would be wonderful. I'd love to see (and especially hear) this without the Russian overdub... BF really seems 'opening up' a bit there... Gotto run and take care of my 4 sons now.... no kidding... :-))) But thanks Avalon, for the occasional Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music tid-bit... Tara, Anton. - -- Mal: We're still flying. I want you to know I appreciate all your posts and LOVE the DETAILS you are able to provide given the constraints of this forum. My insatiable appetite for all ingredients making up Roxy Stew led me to this interview: http://www.radiohannibal.com/radio_hannibal/2011/02/come-to-cleveland-roxy-music-and-bryan-ferry.html It's audio from 1974 so it is possible it has been posted before. It is new to me, however, and if you are a "take the morsels where you can" type, it deserves a listen. Pre-marriage, pre-fatherhood, self-assured Ferry basking in the glow. Aaaah, the good ol' days (as I imagine them!).
