That was one very brave interviewer asking him about his politics, his religious beliefs, fox hunting and how many years he's been in love - he replied by saying he'd been in love 3 or 4 times (countless crushes!). I think there was a lot of very interesting minutiae in there that I've never heard him talk publicly about. Although he looked a bit uncomfortable at times I wonder if he feels more relaxed with his answers when interviewed abroad knowing that the British press isn't waiting to jump on his every word? I actually posted my comment before I'd watched the whole thing so I was surprised too by the audacity of the interviewer. BF seems to be in a good place at the moment and perhaps is more relaxed about these things, though I was also impressed by the way he sidestepped the drugs issue without getting into deep water. The cynic in me would suggest that he needs to be friendly to open up those markets but I'm not sure that's really the reason in this case, though it surely can't hurt his sales. I actually found the whole thing quite pleasing. I think in recent years we've been spoilt by stock answers in interviews (well that's how it seems to us on the whole I suspect but not to the the "lay-person") but this seemed like seeing one of those rare interviews (that were like gold dust) years ago when you discovered how he is as a person. It was the first time I've ever heard him say that he didn't see very much of his father growing up because of the hours he worked. I'd always imagined he spent lots of time with him as he obviously idolised him so much. Oooh and I also meant to add about the interviewer blatantly asking him about his drug use!! I couldn't believe he got away with it. Ferry did very well to veer the subject (as usual) back to the heroin years of his idols Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker, but I thought it unusually open that he mentioned 'the 5th member of Roxy Music' died because of drug use. His explanation of having a morning and evening paper round plus a Saturday job also put his manic work ethic and his need to take the money in perspective!!
