I was there with Don & David from NC (at my hotel), and KB Porter. Delightfull light dinner at the venue resturant. Scheming as to how we could get backstage or whatever, all for naught. The Phenomenal Handclap Band, the openening act was pretty good for a change. (almost ALWAYS hate the opener for BF) What a GREAT SHOW! The audience was WILD from the gate. Ferry didn't even get fully offstage for the encore. (Well almost. Setlist to follow)) All skulked off after Let's stick together, but the Crowd was crazed, they came back for what was supposed to be the encore, Jealous Guy, and half hearted left, Ferry for 3 seconds, and did an unlisted (snagged the list, for posterior) Hold On I'm Coming. Recognized Fonzi,( he must have a really ugly portrait in the attic.) I thought he would have aged, but looked even younger than the Avalon shows! Super band, Spedding taking most of the solos in the first half, Ollie in the second Is that Ollie's lucky shirt? He always wears the Black & white dotted one, or doesn't Ferry pay him anything. Jorja seemed a crowd favorite as she did so many different things. TGPT, better than great. If as suggested, Isaac Ferry designed the background projections, he has stepped up in my esteem. So witty and inventive that a couple of times I was more intent on the Roxy theater in back than the band. Vintage film of car windshields, followed by drinking in a bar and empty glasses for Oh Yeah, Audubon's flamingo animated to dance to LST, and animated Bauhaus woodcuts for Bittersweet. Altogether a better show than the one described for Miami. After we did some half hearted stage-dooring but the band gave us the slip, while we were talking to an OLD Ferry girlfriend, from his Newcastle days. More to come! Please join us for dinner and gab. Seating at the cafe is very limited and is on a 'first come, first served' basis. For further information about menu, etc. go to Strathmore's website, also check out 'parking' for those who wish to know more (it's free, and ajoins the venue via covered skywalk). If we don't see you at dinner or sometime thereafter, enjoy the concert and let Ferry know how happy we are that he is here! Looking forward. I personally have been a Roxy/Ferry fan since 1972 and have bought every album, cassette, CD and DVD, not to mention having seen them live many, many times through the years. The first time in 1972, the last time in Boston, 2001 a mere (ahem) 10 years ago. A very dear die hard Roxy friend of mine flew up to Boston on Saturday from Florida to see Bryan in Maryland last night . She was very lucky to have gotten excellent seats and thoroughly enjoyed the show and was sending Facebook updates as the show progressed, she was in Heaven. After the show she requested from Security where to go to possibly see the band. She was directed to a door that was being guarded, about 10 people were mulling around. (maybe some Avalonians?) A women emerged from the secured area with a backstage pass that she wanted to bestow upon a lucky fan! All you had to do was guess a number and you can guess the rest. My friend MJ won the back stage pass!!! She was allowed access beyond the guard and started to enter the secured area. The head of security, a man with a sling on his arm and a hair across his you know what no doubt, DEMANDED that MJ leave the area immediately regardless of her right to be there with the pass. This started out to be one of the biggest moments in her life, to meet a lifelong Icon. Mr. Bryan Ferry!!! It ended up being one of the worst since she felt so close to living a dream but only to end up in heartache. So my question to you all, What would you do and how can I go about doing it??? Thanks in advance for any and all responses, Roxy Rick ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V15 #203 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
