I was on the front row, dancing like a fool for most of the second half of the show. The audience really came alive during Kiss and Tell, and never quieted down. Good show, but I continue to despise the setlist, even if Ferry did open with The Main Thing for a change. Two songs off Olympia, and most of the songs are associated more with Roxy than with Ferry the solo star. Nice to see Tawatha Agee and Fonzi Thornton contributing backup vocals. No sign of Tara Ferry. Guitars courtesy of Oliver Thompson and Chris Spedding, who took turns contributing excellent solos. Jorja Chalmers got a lot of attention as well. The show ended abruptly with Jealous Guy. According to vivaroxymusic.com, Ferry was supposed to play Hold On, I'm Coming -- but he didn't. He just walked off, followed by the rest of the band even though the crowd was cheering for an encore. After a few minutes, the roadies began taking down the mics and that was it. Very odd, considering how appreciative the audience was. John, David and I managed to get backstage, where I had a brief and pleasant chat with TGPT. Not the greatest Roxy/Ferry show I've seen, but entertaining as hell, and now I wish I could make the shows up north. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V15 #202 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
