Great find. I was at RAH and have some strong memories. I'd bought ATAP a couple of days before and was vaguely underwhelmed. However, and I'm sure this never happens these days, the album was played in the grand auditorium in its entirety prior to Bryan taking the stage; of course it sounded wonderful in that context, and Ive loved it ever since. "It ain't me babe" sounded especially warm and velvetty through the RAH sound system. The gig was fabulous. First airing of the black tie outfit. Almost impossibly glamorous in 3rd World 70's Britain. I recall red roses being hurled at his feet during the seemingly never-ending encore of These Foolish Things. Standing up in the Gods - no Avalon to give me heads-up on ticket sales - the spectacle was nontheless enchanting ... then a chap as old as the Albert Hall circled the Upper Circle with the news that "Mr Ferry is inviting you all down to the front for the final songs." We sprinted down and round several landings and were ushered stage side to witness the final numbers. Suddenly the maestro wasn't a speck of penguin in the distance but a life-size be-quiffed demi-God ... Love it! Martin - thanks so much for these memories. I can really imagine the whole set-up at RAH. ATAP was very special for me, but I never got to see any live performance of it (was still - just about - under parental supervision and about to break loose!!!).
