I know not much happens on this list these days but I have an over 20 year attachment and fondness for it, so I thought I would share todaybs little surprise discovery. My family are now in week 3 of covid19 quarantine having all been subject to waves of nasty symptoms followed by improvement and then recurrence. As a consequence my recent birthday was cancelled and my wifebs later this week will be too. We decided to optimistically set a date for a joint celebration and opted for 24th of May which marks the 40th anniversary of our meeting in 1980. We met at a local student disco after I had been to see the Average White Band at the Glasgow Apollo and had hurried to the venue where me met afterwards. So today I googled to check the date and as well as confirming that it was correct I spotted that this day in 1973 was the first appearance at the Apollo of Roxy Music. A ticket in the stalls could be had for the princely sum of B#1.10. At this point I had just turned 12 and later that summer I would move to secondary school where my new friend Robert Jackson would introduce me to Roxy... My first Roxy gig would be at the same venue in Oct 1975 - I think on the 9th, the middle of 3 consecutive nights. This is a great site for the best venue I have ever attended.
