With a six year lead time on each I would anticipate the deluxe version of Avalon being delivered in 2060. Better invest in Bitcoin so you can afford it. Spend the intervening years listening to 'The Jazz Age' so you can get attuned to what a 80 year old album sounds like. Manzo's site has the pre-order priced at B#100 (still around B#40 over the odds in my view) but does have the advantage of a free t-shirt and a signed poscard from Old Insect Eyes himself. Nice. http://manzanera.com/new/pre-order-the-new-roxy-music-boxset/ Amusing that by delaying the release until February they have actually missed the 45th anniversary. I must not be too sneering. Overall I think the product looks extremely good. Very polished presentation. A decent mix of the album is 45 (sorry 46) years overdue. It can't fail to be better than the original. Although the Peel recordings are already widely available in good-quality bootleg form, and The Paris Theatre ones are on BBC6 every few months they are nontheless welcome. Probably should have had a release on their own. More sponteneity, brio and invention than the album versions in my opinion. Personally I'm less enthused by the outtakes. Unless there are different arrangements, these are just the versions considered not good enough for release for the past 45 years; probably the ones where PM cocked up the solo. It doesn't do it for me. The Bataclan footage is interesting though. I do remember a brief clip of 'Would You Believe' on Total Recall.and I assume that is from that footage. There's a real pub rock feel to it. Maybe I'm just grateful that a Bataclan event ended without gunplay, or worse still, Sting singing. The deluxe book I could do without. I'll wait for the film. But it's the demos that intrugue, although I'm not sure the BoB Medley will hold my attention for long. I realised the other day that this boxset is the second thing in history to take six years to complete and have the Battle of Britain in the middle. All joking apart, I'm very interested to hear how those original demo songs developed into those songs we know and love.. Andrew asked about legal wrangles delaying this thing. About 15 years ago the late Roger Bunn, Roxy's original guitarist, emailed me and in his rather confusing manner explained how he had done all the arrangements for the debut album before getting the elbow and being denied any credit. Anyway, about five or six years later, Davy O'List mailed me offering the skinny on how Roxy had actually shamelessly used all the arrangements he had done prior to his unfortunate chinning by TGPT.. I politely declined. Success has many fathers, etc. Perhaps this was an issue? More likely that BF is worse at delivering things on time than Yodel. Incidentally, Roger Bunn also told me that he had written Bowie's 'Life Is A Circus' and had had it stolen by the Thin White Duke. I told him it's not fair. Life is a hard road. When you're not there, but he didn't seem to appreciate the irony. Is it me, or is this thing a bit short of Eno's input? Retrospection is not really his thing I guess. I did see a great, if surreal, clip of him from Dutch TV miming to Seven Deadly Finns on the Danny Baker thing on BBC4 last week. Very odd. It's still on iPlayer and probably YooToob too. One minor gripe. Why wasn't The Numberer/First Kiss included for completion? VP was a later addition to the album after all, and FK was the flip side of the single. Just sayin' . Overall this thing is to be commended, price not withstanding. Discount it further and it'll become even better, Regards, Chris On 17 December 2017 at 18:49, Gerard York wrote: > Any indication deluxe editions of FYP, Stranded and the later titles are > planned?
