Ever since hearing the story of the first Roxy demos I've wondered what they would be like. And of course- who is playing on them? I'm sure someone can enlighten me. I'm beginning to think that I won't live long enough to see this release either! Let's hope I'm wrong, Mactheaxe - -----Original Message----- From: owner-avalon@smoe.org [mailto:owner-avalon@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Chris Turner Sent: 26 March 2017 05:40 To: Avalon Subject: [AVALON] Gestrandet an leben und kunst It sounds like The Cool Ruler is going down well over in the Colonies. Good to hear, especially as he seems to be visiting some more far-flung areas this time. Maybe that time-travelling setlist wasn't such a bad idea after all. He's been busying himself in the studio too, apparently. In an uncharacteristically unguarded interview with The Alt magazine he reveals that he has been working on a new commission for a German TV series called Babylon Berlin - (https://babylon-berlin.com/en) - based in 1920s Weimar Berlin and with a Kurt Weill flavour - Weillesque if you will. Or perhaps Bryan Ferry in Cabaret;... (that's a Liza Minnelli joke if you're wondering.) Oh and it's mainly instrumental, so mercifully none of the soul-searching, breast-beating existentialist introspection over lyrics this time. It's ground he's trodden near to before of course, with Bitter Sweet and Falling In Love Again. The TV series has a 40 million euro budget, so it's a pretty big deal. Props to The Commander for taking that on. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4378376/) BF is becoming quite the go-to guy for 1920s period music it seems.and of course he famously does love German imagery... The interviewer tries to draw him into confirming the Western Swing album but he sidesteps it skillfully. As hopefully he always will. Mentions the 1974 Albert Hall thing is still in the pipeline and apparently there's going to be a deluxe version of the debut Roxy Music album...who knew? He does let slip that it will contain the original demos though...I hope I live long enough to hear those. http://thealt.com/2017/03/24/exclusive-interview-bryan-ferry/ Tschuss,.
