LIVE Simon Simon - so good we named him twice Thanks again for this - the Manifesto tour was the first time I caught Roxy live at the Birmingham Odeon - it was the night of the 79 General Election Some thoughts as usual 1. God how I love Manifesto the track - classic Roxy and live it takes on a different life with Andy doing what Andy does best - expanding his studio contribution - and Mr Tibbs proving he can really really play. 2. As much as I love Andy Newmark there is only one Roxy drummer - TGPT - just listen to the difference in the 79 and 80 versions of Trash for example. Oh what would the F&B tour been like with Paul? 3. I remember getting to the end of the East Side thinking yes Roxy have still got it but then I turned over....................................................... 4. In 79 Roxy were still a powerful tour de force live - after that additional musicians got in the way 5. Oh wow the Pasadena Angel Eyes has loads of new stuff in it - never heard that before. 6. Loved the Manifesto version of Out of the Blue with Andy and Phil taking on Jobson's violin solo and winning 7. This tour maintained the kinetic partnership of Andy and Phil something that got watered down after.
