'Diamond Head' comes with extra tracks 'Carhumba' and 'Corazon Y Alma' (a Quiet Sun demo and the original source of more than one tune on 'DH', which was previously available on the 'Rare One' album some years ago). The booklet has been expanded to include numerous pages from a recording diary with some interesting working notes (and odd word-association scribbles in the margins !) 'Mainstream' is reissued in a deluxe hardback book-form edition (rather like the '801 Live' reissue last year) with extensive notes, early photos and snippets from various interviews and reviews, both current and historic. The CD has been extended with some 19 minutes of early demos and a track ('RFD Part One') left off the original vinyl album (all previously on 'Rare One'). There is also a previously-unreleased 10-minute demo of 'Trot' (featuring Dave Monaghan on saxophone and flute) and an eight-minute conversation between Manzanera, MacCormick and Hayward who have also signed initial copies of the set ... Regards, Ive n.p. 'Trot' demo ... again ... :) ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2011 15:26:36 -0500 From: kwil632057@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Ferry at home A few years back, there was an interview with Ferry published which opened with an image of him and Lucy in a large room with a huge table. Would anybody be able to mail me a scan of said image? Does anybody recall where the picture was published? I'm tempted to think it was GQ - early 1990s? There was also a piece (it might have been the same article) that showed interior shots of Ferry's house (I recall the gaucho sombrero was in the hallway). If memory serves, these images were on the Avalon mailing list site when it still existed but have disappeared now. Can anyone help? In return I can offer the news that there's an interview with Ferry in the current Elle magazine in which he recommends his favourite books. Oddly enough Five go to Kirrin Island by Enid Blyton is cited as a Ferry fave as is Sherlock Holmes (his first adult read - Elementary, my dear!). He's especially taken with the title Scandal in Bohemia. Which would make a wonderful title for a song someday... I could scan and email the pics to you (and anyone else who is interested!) in a few days. There were also photos of his garden. In the pic of him with the children and Lucy, Bryan is looking at a pull-out centerfold for a men's magazine, if memory serves. Both are from 1991, one from GQ Magazine (The Life of Bryan) and the other from The Sunday Times Magazine (A very Proper Pop Star). Bryan is standing in front of the fire and Lucy is reclining on the sofa. The article that used to be on Avalon was from Vogue and I think I have some pages scanned but would have to check the old PC.
