Here's a link to a Norwegian magazine called Eno with His Lordship on the cover. I think it may include an interview with Eno but I'm not sure. As it turns out, they also have a Facebook page ...all in Norwegian. www.enomagasin.no www.facebook.com/enomagasin Knowing there's Scandinavians out there, what's it all about? It isn't the voluminous instrumentation within Olympia that I find detracting, rather it is the nearly incessant whispering female backgrounds heard on the majority of tracks. - Either the treatment has been overused, or it is only my tinnitus I'm hearing! Still, there are gems on the album and it remains enjoyable, but I now cringe (and am practicing the art of ignoring the whisperings on all but Song To the Siren - which is a very difficult thing to do - ignoring, that is) wondering why the gimmick has been whipped to death. Yes, the material should have been toured. And, at the risk of seeming ego-centric, I believe the US market is an essential part in achieving commercial success. Perhaps I, and maybe three other Virginians, am aware of Mr. Ferry's newest release. However, touring and aggressive marketing in the US might not achieve the desired result. Let's face it - our life spans a dramatic and fundamental shift in the way music is consumed and produced: Singles downloads dominate, the average age of music consumers continues to fall (those spoiled children have enormous purchasing power as they are very adept manipulators of their parents' discretionary income), the shelf-life of a song is meteoric, and branding life-style imaging along with narcissistic-gratification and more means... we are dinosaurs in the making! ( Increasingly irrelevant, oh dear, this isn't how I thought the new year should be.) Breath deeply and slowly. In and out. Calmly sign off.
