One way of getting an experimental Roxy Music album out of him. I reckon Ferry has enough of a background in the art scene for Eno to be unnecessary... A few weeks back it was mentioned on his Twitter that he had just returned from Paris and something about fragrance samples. There had been suggestions for names and that "Avalon" was a popular one but that they could do better than that. Those tweets seem to be gone now though, when you look at the page. Nick Deville gave an illuminating talk about his Roxy covers last night at the O2 including a look at an intriguing unseen take on the unreleased Horoscope album cover art. Sat at the front on the far left, near the entrance of the tiny 100 seater venue, I had something of a restricted view. However, this was more than made up for when, after five minutes of the lecture, the door creaked open and Bryan Ferry quitely walked in and sat in the empty seat right next to me! Just before DeVille finished his talk and before the audience asked questions, Ferry slipped out through the same door. As we went to the nearby bar for an after-show comparison of notes, a further surprise awaited as DeVille and Ferry arrived in the bar for a catch up for nearly 30 mins before heading off into the night. It's not often you get that close to your heroes and both were very gracious when approached. An unmissable event and a fantastic evening.
