Despite the lacklustre Jonathan Ross show performance earlier this week the band were ab fab last night in leafy Victoria Park. An excellent gig and the best I have seen them for quite a while. Got me thinking about splashing out on O2 for the newly announced FYP tour. See you at a gig next year. A rather hoarse voice this morning after a great Roxy gig. And what a smart move by the previous act, Mark Ronson, to incorporate a Duran reunion of sorts directly before Roxy - it got a large part of the crowd going. Roxy played really well, and a couple of times when they did happen to lose their way mid-song (just a little bit of rust evident) it was Bryan who pulled them all back into line, pronto. If there was a lull, it was mid-set, when Bryan was offstage doing the 'saving his voice' thing - very evident that, the way the set was structured. But it was young Ollie who pulled up a slightly restless crowds socks with a blistering finale to My Only Love. All in all though, an absolute joy to see them all on such good form. I would have preferred a 'Grey Lagoons' or 'AIWIY' instead of LST being in there, but that's nitpicking - the crowd loved the inclusion of LST. Moving a few months down the line, what's keeping most of us salivating is the expected 'holy grail' inclusion of 'Beauty Queen' next January and February. Next time is the best time. Nice to bump into some of the usual suspects too, just before Roxy appeared. Roll on 2011 !
