It's great that the Lovebox announcement has revivalised this list AND of course the chances of RM working anew in 2010. But am I alone in wondering if an open air event in rainy UK even in July, remember Docklands? is the best Tara we might have for such a wondrously stylish band? Hoping like MAD for some other more appropriate dates to be added. Yes, I know those not in UK will brand me a whinging Pom for daring to look the gift horse in the mouth but a crowded urban park with all the distraction and hubbub that will inevitably mean...well, I've not heard the news with unequivocally good humour. God, some of you are getting old! Where's your spirit of adventure? Where others see 'having to sit through a load of other bands', I see it as an opportunity to be exposed to some bands I've never heard of before (Codeine Velvet Club anyone?) and to see some I have a bit of interest in but might not have bought a ticket to see, Empire of the Sun for instance. I see Mark Ronson's on the bill too - I wonder if I'll get my CD back. It's hardly bloomin' Glasto and thank god you don't have to stay in a tent or a yurt. And Borough market are providing the foodie fayre so no heartburn salmonella hot dogs. I don't remember it raining at the Excel. But I do remember downpours of biblical proportions at The Tower of London and that was covered - so it couldn't get any worse that that. I know I'd rather spend my money on a full day out at Lovebox than nearly B#100 on a 4/5 middle of the road song set at Koko's ICA bash. And I'd much rather send a donation direct to the ICA. Anyway Richard, the great thing about Lovebox is that if you get bored, you (one) can always hang out with the leather queens round the chemical toilets. I kind of know what you mean Richard, it doesn't feel like an event as it was nine, yes NINE, years ago. With respect to why no tour and just festivals, I guess there could be numerous explanations, maybe a mix of financial, personal and perhaps marketing: Financial because there'll be a big box office (I'm assuming it's not free, is it?). There'll also be writing royalties which will be larger because of the larger audience. Personal because (I could be wrong) I just don't get the feeling that they all get on that well and so numerous gigs wouldn't appeal but the one-offs are worth it? Maybe high profile gigs / festivals are a good way to make yourself known to an audience that wouldn't normally check you out? Finally, maybe individual schedules are such that they couldn't do a proper tour? Also, without a new album, wouldn't a tour just feel like 2001 all over again? It was fun for a while.... Anyway, all speculation, I could be completely off tack. Maybe I am older now than I was in 1972. It's possible though I've not seen any signs. I too like EotS and Mark Ronson (tho Mick was better). But I think BF should apply same style criteria as he did with Mamouna shows. And outdoors but NO space doesn't cut it for me. I'm sure like y'all, I'll be there - tho I'm giving Koko a miss. Last adventure with leather Queen was Crazy Little Thing Called Love tour of London.
