Oh brilliant, and, unlike 4 years ago, it appears that some forward-looking person in the Roxy camp has checked out at the World Cup football fixtures and avoided the possibility of England games and Roxy playing at the same time. With the WC final scheduled for July 11th, it means we will have already lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy, have had a whole week to celebrate and can then turn our attentions to our musical heroes. Can`t wait! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 2010 09:23:15 -0500 From: jocelynfiske@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Roxy dates >Oh brilliant, and, unlike 4 years ago, it appears that some forward-looking erson in the Roxy camp has checked out at the World Cup football fixtures and voided the possibility of England games and Roxy playing at the same time. So you don't know about The Angel of the North Benefit gig scheduled for the same date at the Forest Hall Scout Hut then Nige? And I was going to try and get you on the guestlist ...but if footie comes first. I think BF will be doing some dates as well. Has that ever happened before, two tours running in parallel? Monday night I happened across Manzanera.com and there was mention of "Roxy 2010" on the front page. Well you see, I think it did, because it's no longer there but further into the website where it talks only of the LoveBox festival. The problem I'm having is that I was sure it said Roxy Album 2010. I wish I'd posted something but I didn't have the time. Anyway, maybe I mis-remembered and "Roxy 2010" was just a pre-cursor for this year's festival gigs. BTW Shameless is regarded as the standout track in this months UnCut. PS If Groove Amarda are the organisers of LoveBox, then you'd have thought they might have asked for a Ferry appearence? But instead they're getting a Big Kahuna Roxy appearence. Maybe now he's done his album, BF is freed / fired up to get the Roxy one out of the way? _________________________________________________________________ Send us your Hotmail stories and be featured in our newsletter http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/195013117/direct/01/ ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 2010 16:13:47 +0000 From: Andrew Shearer Subject: FW: [AVALON] Roxy dates It's interesting though, isn't it? There were articles in both last night's Evening Standard and today's Metro saying that Groove Armada had personally invited Roxy to appear at Lovebox. Ferry was quoted as saying "Well of course, we thought that would be cool". Can't see Ferry doing a tour in parallel with Roxy Andrew and he was talking about the solo album being delayed until September. I blame bloomin' Groove Armada for telling him they loved Boys and Girls - he's probably back in the studio remixing a retro version now! And he still seems quite definite that he doesn't want to 'do' a Roxy project, but you know how contrary he is. It'll be back on again after the rapturous reception they'll get at Lovebox (it's historically camp). For a week at least. Are England playing in a Beach Football event in Rio, and some kind Brazilian thief offered the trophy as a prize? The Brazilian team won the tournament (World Cup) for the third time in 1970, allowing them to keep the real trophy in perpetuity, as had been stipulated by Jules Rimet in 1930. However, the cup was stolen again on 19 December 1983, when it was taken from a display at the Brazilian Football Confederation headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. > From: nigelhollis@europeanmarine.co.uk > To: avalon-digest@smoe.org > Subject: [AVALON] Roxy dates > Date: Wed, 24 Feb 2010 13:42:59 +0000 > > J O`B writes :- > > "Roxy Music are to play some live dates this year.
