Whobd be a fly on the wall eh? And talking of flies, shocked to hear of the demise of Lux Interior on Wednesday. Now, the Cramps were one hell of a band to see live, even if you had to fork out for a damnable Police ticket in order to catch them as the support band. I too attended the Magazine gig on Friday. It was one of the weirdest most wonderful evenings Ibve had for years. A night filled with side-ways bI know youb squints as fatter, older, balder versions of people I swear I knew from my college days in Manchester turned out in full force. The gig was brilliant and considering Howard hasnbt toured in ages he was in particularly fine voice. Thankfully he had swapped the shorts and espadrilles of the previous night for a more sedate black trousers and white jacket combo. All the oldies and goldies were played. The Light Pours Out etc, Real Life, Motorcade, Songs from Under the Floorboards (which I believe Jim Kerr has just recorded), Permaf rost, I Love You Big Dummy. B Barry Adamson confirmed himself as the coolest living Englishman by appearing in a half height top hat and being soooo laid back that he even played the encore reclining in a fold out directorbs chair. And whatbs more, the audience turned out like in Roxy days of yore b done up like dogbs dinners and panting for a repertoire that has been sorely missed all these years. Catch them if you can.
