Dear Avalon Readers: If any of you happen to have the NTSC/EMI Canada release of "The Bete Noire Tour" DVD, do you mind checking the end of "Ladytron" during the Bete Noire Tour concert for an audio and video error around 32:18? On my copy, both the video and audio repeat just one time, but the display time does not jump backward with the error. I have cleaned the disc and played the disc in several different players, yet the error still occurs in the same place. If you have time, do you mind checking to see if this same error exists on your copies? Thank you for your time. clinkklank ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Feb 2009 09:25:32 -0000 From: "Martin Stockman" Subject: RE: [AVALON] Eno helps out Jason Donovan This anecdote is related in the current Mojo magazine. Everybody needs good neighbours - especially when they are international music stars! That's what former Neighbours actor Jason Donovan discovered while working on his latest album, Let It Be Me. "Brian Eno's a neighbour of mine and I was strumming some stuff outside and he said 'why don't you throw these chords in?'. "I live in a mews where he has a studio. I asked him about some of the songs and there are two tracks on the album that he recommended." But there was no room on the record for a song that Jason co-wrote with the Roxy Music legend who produced Coldplay's latest album. "I didn't think it suited the album," admits forty-year-old Jason, "and that's a pretty tough call, to exclude a Brian Eno track." www.birminghammail.www ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Feb 2009 04:44:35 EST From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Eno helps out Jason Donovan but can he help Roxy Music...? ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Feb 2009 05:05:49 EST From: Chandla911@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Legend of Bowie - first Andy, now Guy at Pigalle Following hotfoot from Andy Mackay's majestic, nay imperial, performance at London's Pigalle Club, this event (details below) sees Guy Pratt appearing at the self-same venue (plus 2 other London warm-up shows, if you can navigate your way around the Manzo shows at Ronnie's) in a show that might appeal to Bowie fans too... Messers Ferry and Price were out in support at the Wednesday night gig. I know I am not alone on this list in venturing that the Grace Jones gig I saw was the best gig I have seen for at least 10 years, absolutely amazing on every level. Gone are the days when having a ticket was no guarantee of seeing her perform as she more often than not was a no show. Perhaps having her talented son as part of her support band and as her percussionist has kept her on the straight and narrow. The set was a romp through classic after classic (it was only afterwards that I realised all the other amazing tunes that she left out). How can you go wrong when you start with Nightclubbing sung from an hydraulic lift platform whilst wearing a mad Philip Treacy plume mask? And having announced that she wasn't 60 but in fact 70 Amazing Grace makes Madonna look like a scrawny old bird you wouldn't grace your table with at Xmas (or Thanksgiving). Legs up to the Roundhouse ceiling and a leotard that left nothing to the rear imagination, she exhibited the flanks of a thoroughbred racehorse. If Woody Allen wants to come back as Warren Beatty's fingers when he dies, I want to come back as Grace Jones ass - she must have put some work into keeping it in such good shape! And not only did we get the seminal glitterball bowler and laser beam crystal meth version of Love Is The Drug complete with audience sing-along, we got the Joey Negro mix of Angel Eyes as the warm up. Now if you want an example of exquisite tight pant singing you can't get much better than Uncle Bryan's Woooo eee oooooing. But if you just want pants singing (tight or otherwise) with a gutless rip-off I Feel Love/Blind backing track, plump for Jack Shears and his sisters desecrating Do The Strand.
