I think the reviewer may have meant me, pouring my heart out in the cheap (non)seats, singing lead vocals on everything, even instrumental passages for which I had to improvise my own lyrics. Move over, Bryan, help is at hand... Quite a funny story that, actually...OK, well not THAT funny. But I wrote to Roger last week and asked if there was anything of interest in the pipeline and he replied as quick as a flash to say he was playing both the Barbican and the Queen Elizabeth Hall and writing a Mediaeval stage musical on the side. As you know, I eschew sarcasm in all its forms, so discounted it as pre-Winter Solstice madness. Only to find out via Jocelyn's good self that it was all true. Imagine! Oh how I laughed... So, yes...Roger IS again in the Hal Willner/David Coulter Plague Songs/Piratical Sea Shanties house band and doing all that on Dec 11 at the Barbican for Twisted Christmas. But Roger Eno is also part of the Thompson Family Christmas at the South Bank on December 17th, backing Richard, Linda and Teddy... AND, to quote the great man, "working on development stage of staged musical thing based on medieval morality tale yclept 'everyman'." What a guy! And you thought Brian was the prodigious one? Strangely, Mick Hucknall repeatedly talked about how the 23-year career of Simply Red had been. Is he doing a Gordon Brown and trying to sneak in a couple of extra years without anyone noticing? He also introduced Sarah Brown as having "retro hair". Pot, kettle, black... Tonight we posted our fifth cover from the upcoming "Songs of Roxy Music Revisited" album on our MySpace page. (It's at www.myspace.com/songsofroxymusicrevisited). Please check out Swedish band Weekend Wars and their awesome cover of one of my all-time favorite Roxy Music songs - - "Out Of The Blue"!! I will admit that I was holding my breath when I received this cover. "Out Of The Blue" is one of those "sacred" Roxy songs I've heard a number of covers of the track, and I have never really liked them until now I think that Weekend Wars has done an excellent job with the track. I'll be interested in what people think - all I would recommend is giving it a couple of listens so that you can get the original version (and the violin solo) out of your head. Slowly but surely, this record is coming together. Cheers, Alan ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V12 #507 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
