I have never wanted to play it safe, even if it means, as the great music writer Ian MacDonald said of me, 'soaring like an angel one minute and stumbling like a sleepwalker the next". Phil Manzanera * The ultimate career spanning collection from one of the UKs premier guitarists with tracks from Roxy Music, 801 - his work with Brian Eno and solo cuts. * Aside from the other members of Roxy Music, Robert Wyatt and Chrissie Hynde make appearances on several tracks. CD1 covers the first twenty years with Manzanera providing the musical context for the words of other cowriters, such as Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno, as well as writing varied instrumental music. The most recent 10 years are on CD2 with Manzanera writing and singing his own lyrics, including 10 minutes of weirdness created by Eno's 'treatments' of music by former Roxy colleagues, Manzanera, Mackay and Thompson. The DVD includes 'From Revolution to Roxy', a riveting musical journey, with Manzanera acting as guide, plus live performances and music videos. released 17th November 2008 - --------------------------------- Anybody know anything about this ? Nice to see some more familiar names from my Avalon past! We have received a very promising rough demo of "She Sells" from Matt Harris (The Posies) and Ian Moore, so it's not a track we're actively seeking for the (as-yet unnamed) "Songs of Roxy Music Revisited" album, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't have a go at it if you want to. One of the main reasons I do these records is to help people make their musical dreams come true. I don't care if you're Coldplay or a band of high school kids - all I care about is how great your cover is. As a matter of fact, we have at least one band submitting a track for the "Songs of Roxy Music Revisited" who ARE a bunch of high school kids! (If they are even that old). I am very excited to hear what they come up with. Also, the Manzanera retrospective sounds great! You know, at this point, I don't think we have a single track from The Explorers represented among the Roxy Side Project covers we are slated to receive. I would love to see that change. Where are all of the early Ferry solo tracks?
