Having recently watched the excellent Taranta interview in which Ferry talks about working on the new Roxy album (the one where the audience goes wild at all things Roxy while Ferry smiles weakly as the weight of expectation crushes his enthusiasm for the project) I was left wondering what he wants from the new Roxy Music album? A smooth continuation from where Avalon left off? A triumphant return to the avant garde of the early years, showing the new young pretenders how it's done? Or an odd mix between the two? The Scissor Sisters contribution is interesting - to me it points towards the Angel Eyes/ Same Old Scene side of the band. So, given the diversity of what is possible, what do you want from the album*? J *obviously for it to even be released is a given! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 Mar 2008 08:56:28 -0500 From: "K B Porter" Subject: [AVALON] Re: Roxy Music: The Burning Question... A new Roxy music album? - You say, "When"? This topic is so exhausted. But since you've asked...I'll try to burn up Berlin. I really have no preconceived ideas of what or how I'd like the forth coming Roxy album to be in terms of style, genre or format. All I want from the project is spanking-brand-new music and lyrics. - No reworked "Casanova", no cover pieces. - Only new, fresh material that has never been heard by anyone outside the recording studio - not ever! Oh, and I also want it to be creatively and technically good. No small order, hehehe. Real-world scenario: What will be will be. Or as Yogi Bara says "You'll get there when you get there." And I say, "expect nothing and be surprised if something comes of it". Living my life without female sheep. It really isn't anything to do with Bryan Ferry or Roxy but would appreciate any assistance.
