Thanks for the Mackay link, Colette. And to Lee and Jocelyn for stirring my interest in Mr. Mackay's current project/band. I am listening to "Love Is The Drug" upon the heels of "I Love Paris". Very inspiring and introspective soft jazz going there. "Three Coins In The Fountain"'s electro-techno feels a-ravin' sprinkled with mellow-smooth topping. Nice texture and pep mix. Love the truncated Stravinsky influence in the overtly funked-up "New York New York" - reminds me that I must scout around for a copy of the classic "Ivan The Terrible" 40's movie! I could write a short story about the memories and emotions that "Waterloo Sunset" evokes within. - I've watched many of them. Favorably impressed, I've added (http://www.myspace.com/andymackayandthemetaphors) to my Favorites. Again, thanks for the wake-up call. Happy Trails. Not a real hit for the drifters it only reached 56. Covered in the same year by Cliff Benett and the Rebel Rousers top 10 and also covered by Dexy Midnight Runners. Still close to the original although Ferry add some sounds that I like which gives this song something extra's. Good one for the car on a sunny day but nothing really special in my opinion. Ferry's version sounds a bit half hearted to me. I'm always put off from listening to it in the car because of the traffic effects (see also 'Street Life')! Watching a documentary on the BBC TV comedy series Absolutely Fabulous earlier in which Joanna Lumley was asked the inspiration for her character in the show. Without hesitation she said Amanda Lear, pointing out that she was glamorous, but looked to have something to hide (they even showed the FYP cover). The naughty director of the programme then showed a clip from an episode in which she has a sex-change!
