As ever you manage to source the version that has captivated Bryan. I'm a huge fan of this song, and, before you brought this version to our attention, have downloaded it in various incarnations. My favourite is the duet between BB King and Bobby Bland, a wistful and humorous dialogue between these greats from separate genres. Also recommended is the soulful Dorothy Moore, and another duet between the writer Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. Ones to avoid...Elvis P and Al Green who both appear to be sleepwalking through this classic. You go to my head by Teddy Wilson and Nan Wynn. Written by Haven Gillespie/Fred Coots who also composed "santa claus is coming to town" (You can't always have inspiration) It's not easy to say which is the real original because in those days all those singers recorded the same songs in days. For instance this version was recorded early april, Larry Clinton recorded it on 29 april and billie holiday on 5 may all in 38. In the Charts in june there where 3 version of the same song. These version was the one who reached the charts as the first one. You can here in this song perfectly the very charateristic way of playing the piano by Teddy Wilson. More than ones Bryan named him as one of his favourites and I can remember that Colin good was also inspired by Teddy's style, as you can hear. I love Ferry's version. I have about 15 versions and this ones has his own style, I love the opening with the drums, the guitar sound, the combination of the horns with the violins, very haunting. Possible you haven't listen to it for ages. Listen to it with fresh ears. It's the typical Ferry style I fell in love with. What a shame he never performed it during the as time goes by tour. On the in your mind tour it lost live that haunting feeling. Enjoy listening to Teddy's tinkling piano (like the bubbles in a glass of champagne) and Nan Wynn who sings this very relaxed and laid back. http://www.4shared.com/file/34262811/23b46dca/305_LST_You_Go_To_My_Head_Teddy _Wilson_and_Nan_Wynn.html Han ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V12 #310 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
