He never played it live as ar as I remember although it perfectly fits into the dylanesque setlist in my opinion You can download or listen to the original song here. http://www.4shared.com/file/26348040/a2c389b7/402_TBSB_The_Same_Old_Blues_JJ_ Cale.html cheers Han ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Oct 2007 11:35:29 +0100 From: Subject: RE: [AVALON] Cover Versions: Your Views Please. Hard Rain - superb and much better than Dylans original. LST much better than Canned Heat LWT Just Like Tom Thumbs blues - better than Dylans And at the risk of ridicule - ~In the Midnight Hour - I prefer it to the original If he cant write anymore I'd like to see him cover some Marvin Gaye - especially the Whats going on era stuff ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Oct 2007 00:58:37 +0100 From: "GJ Fairlie" Subject: RE: [AVALON] TAXI and (Glasgow) Herald Len. You're a bad man. Such sincerity. I found your original comment mildly amusing and in the light of the response it evoked, it seemed even funnier. (Being of a Scottish persuasion, maybe I just understood - gosh, aren't we just so parochial?) However, regarding Taxi, it's a bit of a mixed bag for me: a jolt that shocked ferry out of the wilderness years in as much that he re-appeared and the voice popped out the mix (albeit only for him to flatline again on Mamouna). The start and end are the highlights. IPASOY and Taxi are enduring favourites of mine. The majority decidedly pedestrian and Amazing Grace and All Tomorrow's Parties (to maintain the toilet theme) absolute p@#h. Hell, Sylvain's version - impersonating Ferry - was much better! However, he did manage to stay away from the light and the second jolt that gave us ATGB brought him right back for me... ...Ferry had the cover of The Herald arts supplement today with a two page review of the Bracewell book. Sky Performance was re-showing the Brewer "Profile" documentary tonight (which means it may be re-shown in the coming week). If anyone in the UK wishes to check, Ch270 on Sky. On a different thread I have given the family notice that the first album is going in the car CD player - groans all round. The kids have been listening to a lot of Bowie and are finding his early seventies stuff very accessible - - much more so than Roxy. Problem is I'm now sick to death of it. If I have to listen to them singing along to Ziggy Stardust one more time, I swear I'll threaten them with Mamouna. But then, maybe that would be taking things too far! Regards to all.
