Very different from the 'smoove' Detroit Emeralds take. Released in the late 80s I believe. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get the Yahoo! toolbar and be alerted to new email wherever you're surfing. http://new.toolbar.yahoo.com/toolbar/features/mail/index.php ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 06 Jul 2007 09:54:53 -0400 From: AMeyersLD@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Bryan on Fresh Air Hey all! Bryan was indeed on Fresh Air with Terry Gross yesterday, and although it was the last interview of the show it was a great one. For those of you who don't know, Terry Gross has a one hour interview show on National Public Radio here in the States. She is considered by many to be the best radio interviewer we have: smart, cultured, personable, clearly knows all the materiel by whomever she is talking to. Which is a neat trick considering how many writers, artists, authors and politicians she interviews. (Parenthetically, she is a errible TV interviewer, suffering from non-photogenicness and stage fright!) She gave Bryan 20 minutes yesterday (he got 40 when he was promoting Frantic) and he was more relaxed than I had ever heard him. She was clearly a real fan, and asked many of the questions that we would have asked. A lot about how "Dylanesque' was recorded, and about the new Roxy album. (Next year. Or the year after....) And,um, I cannot find a link to the interview. (Except for the ambiguous Roxy LP date!)Ms. Gross even tactfully critiqued the maturity of his voice, commenting that the aging process has brought on a richness of emotion that wasn't there in his younger days. It was also interesting to hear him comment on Eno's electronic manipulation of the drums on "If Not For You". An short but to-the-point interview well worth a second listen... or a first one: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11748764 Regards, Don AMeyersLD@aol.com said: > She gave Bryan 20 minutes yesterday (he got 40 when he was promoting Frantic) and he was more relaxed than I had ever heard him. We can start a reverse poll: the most hated roxy/ferry album cover. I would start with the lady with the crow on "the best of Roxy Music" mmhhh "The best of Bryan Ferry + Roxy Music " is pretty awful too.......... so what about "Dylanesque" ? looks like a camp patchwork .. doesn't it???
