Wonder if Dylanesque will chart again now?" - -------------------------------------------------------------------- - -------------- Worryingly, this could be yet another missed opportunity. I've yet to see any kind of follow-up advertising/marketing whilst the iron was still hot, as it were. V. frustrating. Truth be told, I've never been keen on LST, but I'm forced to admit that the extended version we witnessed at the weekend was far and away the best I've seen/heard. Terrific performance, and, as others on here have mentioned, good to see that the audience feedback was sufficiently positive to stimulate that little "skip" at the end of the performance. The Observer reports that Ferry "will end the year with performances in Russia and then, in the new year, head down under". However, this from the same article that had FYP down as the third album. And the?title of the piece? The Life of Bryan. God give us strength. Just watched Mr. Ferry et al's Lady Diana's DoWop. A right mini-concert they gave; the quick warm-up with a familiar friend (STL), a sweet stroll down lovers' lane (TMYFML), finished nicely with a reverent rabble rouser (LST). "To Make You Feel My Love" was superb! BF does ballads so very beautifully. The audience was arrested in silence for good reason whilst being wrapped in the unfolding embrace of TMYFML. Must spin the Dylanesque disk soon. Best wishes. It first appeared on CD on the CD single Will You Love Me Tomorrow. Close to the original with almost the same string arrangement Also covered by shakin stevens! original released in 72 and rerecorded by the emeralds in 77 listen to it here: http://www.4shared.com/file/19275369/ed3eeb6a/411_windswept_EP_Feel_The_Need_ In_Me_Detroit_Emeralds.html Your love is better to me than apple pie....interesting lyrics! Another version you can listen to on this site, dedicated to the writer of the song, Abrim Tilmon http://we_luv_grandpa_abrim.tripod.com/ obvious ferry was inspired by the first version. I think for those in the crowd who were hearing MYFML for the first time the lyrics would have been very poignant given the nature of the event and Bryan sang with great emotion and strength. Many non fans have asked me about that song when the album came out and when he has performed it on TV etc. It seems to catch the imagination of the more casual Ferry listener. Once again, class & style = Bryan Ferry. When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love When evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one there to dry your tears I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love I know you haven't made your mind up yet But I would never do you wrong I've known it from the moment that we met No doubt in my mind where you belong I would go hungry; I'd go black and blue I'd go crawling down the avenue There's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love The storms are raging on the rollin' sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me yet I could make you happy, make your dreams come true Nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of the earth for you To make you feel my love Cheers, Colette PS, I don't mind Rod the Mod but he seems to turning into a caricature of himself! Also, there just happened to be an advert on TV on Monday morning for "The Great American Songbook", all 96 volumes rolled into one bargain CD! It made me feel a bit nervous but so far no ads for Dylanesque or the Ferry/Roxy/Platinum/Best of/Greatest Hits & Singles Collection! - -----Original Message----- From: owner-avalon@smoe.org [mailto:owner-avalon@smoe.org] On Behalf Of rob.whiteford@larcltd.co.uk Sent: 03 July 2007 22:48 To: jocelynfiske@aol.com; martinstockman@btinternet.com; avalon@smoe.org Subject: RE: [AVALON] Di's Do Its amazing how well that came off. It could have been feeble, inaudible, cringe inducing, "what the f*** is he doing" rubbish - like a lot of the rest of the concert. But MYFML and LST saved it from embarrassing oblivion. Given the Live Aid experience it was so brave to do MYFML at all, and to do it so powerfully, so clearly, (I can't quite get the right words to do it justice) was a career triumph IMHO. And a standing ovation for it at a concert? Restores you faith in taste. He might have cocked up in his time, who hasn't? - but at 61 that was absolutely outstanding. Looked and sounded younger than those who try to copy him. What would Simon Le Bon give to be THAT cool?
