Who the hell do you think you are ? Have you been living in a cave these last few years ? Don't you know that these frivolous and immature type of observations are just so out of fashion in these enlightened days ? Or maybe it's just that you haven't had the humour bypass that has turned a a huge swaythe of the population into a bunch knobends ? Many non fans have asked me about that song when the album came out and when he has performed it on TV etc. It seems to catch the imagination of the more casual Ferry listener. Once again, class & style = Bryan Ferry. When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love When evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one there to dry your tears I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love I know you haven't made your mind up yet But I would never do you wrong I've known it from the moment that we met No doubt in my mind where you belong I would go hungry; I'd go black and blue I'd go crawling down the avenue There's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love The storms are raging on the rollin' sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me yet I could make you happy, make your dreams come true Nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of the earth for you To make you feel my love Cheers, Colette PS, I don't mind Rod the Mod but he seems to turning into a caricature of himself! Given the Live Aid experience it was so brave to do MYFML at all, and to do it so powerfully, so clearly, (I can't quite get the right words to do it justice) was a career triumph IMHO. And a standing ovation for it at a concert? Restores you faith in taste. He might have cocked up in his time, who hasn't? - but at 61 that was absolutely outstanding. LST, Ferry's ONLY "dance floor filler", from a non-fan perspective. Do The Strand and Virginia Plain are similarly upbeat/uptempo "party starters" for us Fez/Rox diehards, but not for average unfamiliar listeners. . The stadium response to these 'unknown' tunes is akin to: Ferry: "Can't you see that Holzer mane? What's her name?!" Audience: "Alice!" Ferry: "Who the fuck is Alice?!" . . . The next Roxy/Ferry album could do with an energetic uptempo hit. Relying on his 1976 Harrison cover to get the casuals grooving, is to be expected, but it would surely be nice to have a few others in the rockin' & hollerin' mold. - ---joel (I leave you with the disturbing image of Ferry covering Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" ...) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get the Yahoo! toolbar and be alerted to new email wherever you're surfing. http://new.toolbar.yahoo.com/toolbar/features/mail/index.php ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2007 14:51:25 +0100 From: "Cassidy, Chris J (RES)" Subject: RE: [AVALON] Di's Do I believe the song was originally released in 1995 and has been covered by Billy Joel and Garth Brooks amongst others, so she may have been familiar with one of these versions?
