" Here, hear...after all, any fule kno that you can only really enjoy yourself at these mammoth gatherings if you're crammed together with a load of baying humans, all sweating and spilling beer over you (and until Sunday, smoking), swearing in your face and chatting away about who did whom at the office party last week. The very idea that people might have an unobstructed view, not dependent on one's height, that people might be encouraged to listen, goes completely against the very aims and objectives of staging a concert... Agree completely though about the soul-less aspect of the concert, but think that was more to do with the spirt-less performances (for example, Fergie quite clearly miming before her attempts at actually singing were not amplified - - presumably due to the fact that the mic was not needed for the first part). In the royal box, even Bea and Eugenie failed to recognise their Mama on stage... As the introductory video played before Rod Stewart's current shows quite wittily proclaims: "In an age where boybands happily mime before an undemanding audience, sometime you have to sing to survive..."
