I wanted to let US viewers know that the NBC TV network here in the states is listing Bryan Ferry as one of the performers on their abbreviated broadcast of "The Concert for Diana" which airs this Sunday, July 1 at 8:00 PM EST. Although the actual concert is a multi hour event, this NBC broadcast is only one hour long. It will be interesting to see if our man ends up with some fair air time. Also under Feast or Famine..... VH1 & VH1 Classic Rock here in the US will be covering the Concert for Diana by airing a 6 hour plus live show. These shows start at both 11:00 AM & 12:00 noon EST July 1st with an encore presentation being shown Monday night at 7:00 PM EST. Oddly enough VH1 seems to list practically everyone on the planet who can carry a tune except for Bryan, so I guess we'll have to see. Best to all John Dillon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2007 11:59:10 EDT From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Diana concert An hour or so in and it's an utter disaster. Just appalling - Wembley is atmosphere free, crap sound and lots of free seats. I hope Bryan doesn't appear, he could well do with avoiding this one. I'd go so far as to say that he just saved the show. He certainly got the crowds up - including the two Princes and David Beckham! Slave to Love Make You Feel My Love (a risky choice but so in keeping with the event) Lets Stick Together and a little skip if glee as he walked offstage! Viva Bryan! Looking very fresh and repellent in sequenced black dinner jacket, black slacks and open white shirt. With Olli, Leo, Colin, two backup singers with Shara Brown and an assembled or provided band in tow the three song set was: Slave to Love - Well preformed and very serviceable but tad bit worrisome remembering Live Aid. Make You Feel My Love - Agreed as well a questionable choice but it came off very well and set a nice tone considering the event. And then after the subtle ending the heavy artillery was called in: Lets Stick Together - The third and final song and had the whole crowd up on their feet and dancing. I know we have all heard this tune so many bloody time times we are sometimes deaf to it but here it jelled just so very well here. The shot of energy was so needed right there and the audience loved it. Leo did a great ending solo followed by even a better one from Olli! Bryan was great on harmonica, full of energy and after taking a few final bows literally bounced and skipped off the stage. Hear! Hear! Well done and basically the best part of the show! So proud of that, what a performance. If I'd heard that for the first time I'd be buying his back catalogue tonight. Superb, never missed a note. Agree with J's comments about the general atmosphere, but it was surely Make you feel my love (worked brilliantly, brave brave choice) and a magnificent LST that really started this show. I love LST, always have, always gets the energy going in dead places. Just reminds me why Ferry is the cool ruler. Put Live Aid 1985 nightmare to bed. I was praying he would do that. In direct contrast to the Live Aid show, Ferry was by far the best thing there. There was lots of technical issues (Fergies microphone switched off at one point and Elton took ages to get on stage) but I didn't notice many if any during Ferry's set.
