A set list littered with phrases like bwhen youbre lost in the rain in Juarezb, bAccept that soon youbll be drenched to the boneb, bA long dark cloud is coming downb and bWhen the rain is blowing in your faceb, it was never going to be capped t-shirt weather was it? The first out-door Ferry concert of the year for us and, after a blazingly hot day, it tipped it down right on cue. Warned that bposh people were running for coverb and still two miles from the venue we thought webd get away with it, but no. Bloominb Ferry throws his witchcraft lyrics bMama says only stormy weatherb and bIs that lightening exciting you quite as muchb into the mix and webre doomed. Ironically, only when the opening bars of A Hard Rain plinked out did it stop raining. So we were surrounded by an audience that looked cloned from the weird little dwarf at the end of Donbt Look Now, static in their bright red little plastic pixie hooded macs, who only jolted into life at Jealous Guy, then fell back into their rain-sodden comas until Hard Rain. That said, it was a good second half gig with Ferry commending us on our (Dunkirk?) spirit and him being particularly dramatic during This Island Earth and Make You Feel My Love. Man of the Match Award to Amanda Drummond who did a sterling job whipping up some enthusiasm. Hair cut of the night to Chris Spedding who has flattened it all down to look like a sulky young boy. Absentees of the night jointly awarded to Sarah Brown (Sha White standing in) and Leo Abrahams (at home writing his blog). Strange manifestation of the night to Andy Newmark sporting a white beard that would be better suited on Father Xmas. And that was it, the posh lot went home in cars (that even includes you Andy and Marcel!) and the plebs got stranded at the backwater railway station for an hour. But Ibll leave the last word on Hampton Court to His Majesty bVia sidewalks through the haze, wandering as in a mazeb. The former Soft Machine member and revered musician has finished recording and self- producing the follow-up to his Mercury Music Prize nominated *Cuckooland* and it features several guest artists across it's three 'acts.' Paul Weller, Brian Eno and Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera all appear on the new record, and Wyatt says he was aiming to capture the sound of the group together. He says: "Music isn't just an abstract pleasure, it is a company, when you play a record. Why I like Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus, the Big Bands - is because every character in the band is identifiable as that person - there's this group of humans in a room." *Comicopera* is divided into three acts - "Lost In Noise", "The Here And The Now", and "Away With The Fairies". The full tracklisting is as follows: Act One: Lost In Noise 1 Stay Tunes 2 Just As You Are 3 You You 4 A.W.O.L. 5 Anachronist Act Two: The Here And The Now 6 A Beautiful Peace 7 Be Serious 8 On The Town Square 9 Mob Rule 10 A Beautiful War 11 Out of The Blue Act Three: Away With The Fairies 12 Del Mondo 13 Cancion de Julieta 14 Pastafari 15 Fragment 16 Hasta Siempre *Comicopera* will be released in October, 2007.
