I was just about to say exactly that when it was asked that the Nazi thread be dropped; but, knowing how much Ferry controls everything he does, I was rather going to suggest that his remark was intentional, to catch HB's attention as his M&S deal was drawing to an end. (That would have been tongue-in-cheek, though, obviously) I am currently writing about the influence of Hollywood musicals in (postmodern) pop music and film and it is interesting to note that the esthetics of the ensemble performances in the musicals of the 1930s has much in common with that of the major Nazi and fascist 'gatherings' of the same era and then that both esthetics are often 'quoted' by contemporary pop cultures (most obviously gay culture). I think that Ferry has clearly been playing with both influences, too. Steve McClaren apparently was "really getting into it", pity we can't say the same about him in his role as England manager. Maybe he thought: "Ask me no questions and me tell you no lies". Something else just came to my attention: Did any of you know that in the series Red Dwarf, when Lister all of a sudden plays guitar like a guitar god, actually the hands of Phil Manzanera are playing the guitar? His arms seem to come out of Lister's T-shirt.
