Some prefer Ferry solo to Roxy and others vice versa. Generally I prefer the class of Ferrys solo output like Boys and Girls, but agree with you that the dark, beautiful mood of Stranded makes it the best Roxy album. Whilst FYP is brilliant, is it just a little cold? The first album to me is more of a concept than a finished product for me, but what a concept! Anyway cheers for now Rob Filip wrote If it is okay to discuss the Roxy albums here. I would like to do just that. My favourites are Stranded. Number two is Country Life. And the third is Siren. After that, the two first albums. Stranded has always felt more mature than the two first albums. The first albums has a splendid charm, but has a lack of "regularity" in the sound. Stranded holds an equable quality. I also feel that the experimental side takes over focus from the core essence in some of the songs of the two first albums. Especially this is obvious when we compare the 2HB B-side Ferry single version with the Roxy album version. But yes, he gets a good press generally, very good actually, but occasionally jealousy and small mindedness raises its ugly head and we have a journalist completely missing the point and having a cheap shot. I have the impression this is less frequent than it used to be. Whether he supports fox hunting, condones some worryingly frequent incidents with Otis and Isaac, goes out with a 26 year old, and/or sends his kids to boarding schools - well we can all have opinions on whichever subject gets us going, but in the end he's the coolest bloke in Britain AND still a great artist.
