So I would bet on something like Slave to Love, LITD and JG (of course) ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Disclaimer This e-mail (including any attachments) is only for the person or organisation it is addressed to. I was listening to a compilation of B sides and other tracks last night, and Sonnet 18 is just a brilliant vocal. He COULD get away with that in his set, although not WSWITR I suspect. His voice sounds better than ever on this tour to me and I can't understand the often repeated "his voice isn't as good as it was" viewpoint. Its maybe a bit different but he sings more powerfully and in tune nowadays than he ever did IMHO. Cheers Rob When she Walks in the Room, would be my choice, strutting the keyboards, not forgetting Sonnet 18, Which I would have large photos projected of Lady Di, on a huge screen, followed by a tribute to Prince Philip, Sympathy For The Devil. On our well-positioned row 12, midstage at that, we were sitting next to what looked like a subdued office clerk or an it-professional in his thirties. He was apparently on his own and absorbed in his paper until the support act tore him out of it. Curious what had brought him here, we asked if he was a fan. 'Not really', he said quietly. 'I remember Roxy because my elder siblings played Avalon when I was a kid. I quite liked that record, so I thought, let's see what has become of Bryan Ferry after so many years.' He said he generally appreciated that so many older rockers were still touring, but that his real passion were the Stones. He had already secured his flight to London and ticket for the upcoming Stones-event there. Roxy/Ferry as such did not particularly interest him, and back he went to his paper. After a while, he added that 'of course the fact that Mick Jagger had a relationship with an ex of Ferry's' had slightly heightened his interest in tonight's subject. He spoke like a heavy Stonesaddict. But then. The concert went ahead, and soon our neighbour seemed enthralled, clapping and humming along, though clearly not knowing any words. As the music proceeded, he got louder and louder, all of a sudden shouting: 'come on, you bunch of old-age pensioners!' to no-one in particular. Admittedly, the venue was packed with people on the far side of forty - though most of them by far not old enough to get money for nothing, and none of them showing lack of interest. On the contrary, the whole crowd, seated or thronging on their feet was rocking, singing and clapping. Soon after that, our neighbour cupped his mouth and roared 'Bryaaaaaan!' so loudly that it must have made every bootleg around. We could not help shaking with laughter, which seemed to rather embarrass him (shy smiles in our direction), but did not keep him from repeating his roar several times. At strategic moments, too: either right after the finish of a song, or during a low-volume intro. We were sure he was purposefully trying to get through to the ex of his master's ex! The apotheosis came as he climbed his chair to roar and wave his hands even more conspicuously. After the encores he transmuted back into his dull officeclerk-mode and slipped away before we could investigate further. Which goes to say, not all idiots are fans. But at least now you know who left his signature on your bootleg.
