Ferrys singing was tremendous, yet again never missing a note. With apparent ease at that. He changed the setlist with Jealous Guy in the first half. No Smoke gets in your eyes. LST only at the end no LITD, on stage from about 850 to 1010. Usual type of crowd, sat until LST. Not bad, but a bit short and a bit flat for a while. Pleased to see you thought it his best show since '77, albeit without an encore. I was due to go, my only gig on this tour, but circumstances prevented it. Also, glad you liked the venue. I've been a bit miffed with BF/Roxy over the years as Wales, particularly with Roxy, seems to be forgotten on their itinerary. Back in the early 70's they did Cardiff quite regularly, they even managed a gig in the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea (my home town) in late '73 which I've mentioned to my daughter, and younger friends, on more than one occasion! Again, thanks for the info. Is there a nightmare brewing inside...? On the brighter side, Martino rationalizes: "Of course the upside is that it will shift units of Dylanesque. The launch of the excellent album, and the acceleration of this M&S campaign, is no coincidence; mucho symbiotico methinks." KB agrees: At this point of Mr. Ferry's career he can not afford to decline exposure if it translates into income. Also, I am surprised no one has talked about probable reasons for the postponed American release of "Dylanesque". Surely its release will happen shortly before tour dates here (yet to be announced) so as to maximize the album's unit sales and concert ticket sales. This may be viewed as BF's best shot at 'cracking' the American market - for the past year we have been treated to numerous media events that centered on or about Bob Dylan to a degree of near saturation - so this slight delay on BF's Dylan effort makes the potential outcome even more interesting. - Dylan may make Ferry more accessible to the American market while, ironically, Ferry may make Dylan more listenable to the American market (I can always hope). "Unfortunately it diminishes his "cool" brand substantially." Ha! To me (and to you, Martin) he will always be beyond "cool", but understand that 'cool branding' is too exclusive for the average guy who seems too un-cool for belief; Joe Consumer wants to be cool but hates for cool to be rubbed in his face or shoved down his throat... I'm so happy to read all the posts on Mr. Ferry's concerts. Thank you to all who have shared their experiences with the list. Hope to read many, many more in the future. Viva Bryan Ferry!!! If your current DVD player is not multi-region compatible, you might want to look for a Coby player. These are very inexpensive and can be found in many stores. I saw a Coby progressive scan player in my local Big Lots store for $25.00 a few days ago. Be sure to check the packaging, but every Coby player I have seen has said NTSC/PAL compatible somewhere on the outside. I have been told by someone who fancies himself a computer 'guru' that putting a PAL DVD in my computer drive more than 5 times will change the drive to PAL and that it cannot be changed back to NTSC. I've been unable to find more info on this but don't want to try it. Aside from that, this DVD was much more enjoyable on the big screen TV than the computer monitor. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
